My first impression of him was that he seem like he would help any way he could.
No my impression has not changed He is still a nice guy.
His staff is nice they help any way they can.
There was nothing that I didn't like about him.
Future patients should know that he is nice and help with any thing you need.
He really emphasize aftercare. He wants you to exercise 15 to 30 minutes a day. And you have to stick to you diet.
Yes he address the risk of surgery very good.
I would rate him as a very good surgen.
I would say that he has both good surgical competence ans bedside manner.

I liked Dr. Mark the first time I saw him at one of his support group meetings. He has a droll sense of humor that I really like. I've had 2 office visits with him and think he's really great. He even impressed my husband. So far every member of his office staff has been very friendly and helpful. I have never felt like they were looking down on me because of my weight. Dr. Mark and his staff stress how important our after surgery visits will be, they really care about how you are getting along. I feel very informed about the risks and benefits of the surgery and follow-up care. I think Dr. Mark and his staff are the best!

I met Dr. Johnson at a monthly support meeting. I felt like he was very personable and supportive of his patients. After I had my consultation with him my first impression didn't even begin to cover what a kind human beging and incredible physician/surgeon he is. His staff is wonderful, and very supportive. They stress the importance of a long term patient relationship to make sure this surgery is a success and in doing their part make you feel succesful also.

During my initial consult w/Dr. Mark he spoke to me about the risk & benefits of wls. He emphasized that wls is a tool and I had to work at weightloss. I appreciated his honesty. I would give Dr. Mark Johnson & his incredible staff an A++.

I would encourage anyone thinking about wls to see Dr. Johnson.

I was already in awe of Dr. Johnson before I even met him because by ALL accounts he is a caring, talented, wonderful doctor. Now that I've met him, I see why. He is kind, friendly, funny; a person you immediately trust. I was extremely nervous and that concerned him. He tried to set me at ease and it wasn't long before I felt much more comfortable. His staff was great. They were all friendly and helpful. Dr. Johnson stresses aftercare as being as important as, if not more so, than the surgery.

I finally made the call to Dr. Johnsons office after LOTS of research and reading and asking questions. I called in January and made it in for a consult in June. Dr. Johnson and his whole staff are absolutely wonderful. The thing I like best about him is that he's real. Everything is laid out on the table in the open. He doesn't claim to have a magic solution. It's very clear that he's giving us a tool and he and his entire office staff is there to see that we use this tool in a way to benefit us the most. The wait was long, but I'd be willing to wait as long as it takes to have Dr. Johnson do the surgery because I trust and respect him completely.
Although I had some complications with the surgery, I feel that Dr. Mark handled the situation wonderfully. Dr. Mark is a 10 in my book.

I attended Dr. Johnson's informational meeting in March and he was wonderful. I thought he was very confident, knowledgable and very concerned about his patients before and after care. His staff was equally as caring and knowledgable. I didn't leave with any unanswered questions whatsoever. I am scheduled for my consult on June 5th, and am very excited about it.

6-8-03---I had my first appointment with Dr.Johnson, and he was great. He is very, very concerned about informing his patients about what to expect from this surgery. He stresses that it is a lifelong commitment. My husband attended this appt. with me and he too was very impressed with his caring nature. When he said "I think that you are a candidate for this surgery" I could have jumped up and kissed him!!! Now I just have to schedule a nutritional consult at the hospital and then wait for insurance approval. I am so happy, I feel like I am finally going to get my life back. All of the paperwork I took with me to my visit, my letter to insurance, my PCP's letter and my Psych letter, were very good. I thank everyone that has contributed to this site because this is where I got all of my info about what the letters needed to contain. If I can help anyone or answer any questions, even though I'm only beginning my journey, I'd be glad to help. You can email me at [email protected].

June 2003
I had my consult on June 2nd and my opinion of Dr. Mark is that he is great! He is caring and compassionate. He's funny and friendly. I feel so comfortable with him and I know that he will take good care of me. He is adamant about follow up care and keeping a positive relationship with his patients. He attends every support group meeting and is open to any and all questions. I feel blessed to have found him.

I met Dr. Mark when I attended my first support group meeting on Feb3rd 2003. He is so wonderful! He's kind and caring and he really seems to genuinely like his patients. When I mentioned that I had heard nothing but great things about him, he said that we would be spending the rest of our lives together, why not treat each other right? What a great attitude. His staff is friendly and helpful and his patients at the meeting LOVE him. He is very concerned with aftercare and staying in touch with the office. I haven't had my first office visit yet, so I don't have a "negative" right now. The wait is awful, but that's not the Dr's fault. I feel very confident that I have made the right choice.

I was very favorable impressed with him. He spent considerable time with my husband and I explaining the procedure, the possible complications and what we could expect. He also allowed ample time to answer our questions. I had never had a physician spend as much time making sure we knew what we were getting into. His office staff is excellent, everyone. Debbie, his weight loss coordinator is special, very caring and informative. He is very careful to explain after care and wants to be sure you understand what your part will be in the success of this surgery. He has a very specific aftercare program. He was careful to address the risks of surgery and made sure my husband and I both knew that because of existing health problems I would spend at least the first night in ICU. No surprise here. I would have no qualms in giving both him and his staff an excellent rating. I truly believe that surgical competence is the most important asset. Bedside manner is important, but not more important than competence.
