Dr. Nichols is a very forthright doctor. He explained the procedure, the benefits and the risks in detail and also answered any questions I had. He believes in getting you back to work as quickly as possible, he says it helps the process. I like Dr. Nichols he is a nice man w/ a quiet manner but tells it like it is. It was also comforting to me to know that Blue Cross had awarded the SRMC Bariatric Program a Center of Excellence award. That recognition helped me not to be as nervous about the procedure. Everyone I have encountered through the SRMC Bariatric program have been very nice, professional and supportive. I consider myself fortunate for a great local program; I am glad I didn't have to have the surgery done out of the area.

I know this sounds to good to be true, but I truly had a good experience with this surgery.

I met Dr. Nichols for my consultation. Very nice Dr. I was impressed with how completely he explained everything and answered my questions. He is very big on aftercare and following through with support groups and such. He was very knowledgeable.

Dr. Nichols is a very straightforward and knowledgeable physician. He emphasized the need to stick to the program and excercise. I have great confidence in him.

I think Dr. Nichols is one of the most thorough surgeons in the U.S.. He answered all my questions and took time with me to explain every aspect of the surgery.

His office staff is very friendly and able to answer important questions I had.

What I liked best about Dr. Nichols was that he seemed to care about me and was concerned that I do what is best for me.

He emphasises after care very strongly, which I think is extremely important for weight loss success.

Dr. Nichols has a well trained after care staff. Diane Livingston, the head of the after and before care programs cares about her patients and is fast to return calls at anytime of the day.

I feel that Dr. Nichols is very competent and has a great beside manner about him.

Dr Nichols is a very kind gental man who is really interested in helping us . He can be very stubborn as I found out when he cancelled my first surgery(medically Necessary) but he has always had my best interest at heart. Now that I am one year out, he is helping me with suggestions about weights, exersize, and how to continue with my positive results. There are support groups, and all kinds of information out there for us.

I just want to set the record straight, you have Dr. Nichols name spelled wrong, It is Mark Nichols, M.D. Not Nickols. Dr. Nichols is the most caring, gentle, talented surgeon ever. I have known him for 25 years. His office staff is very caring, and professional. My impression over time only has gotten better of him and his staff. He does stress aftercare and follow-up. The bariatric program at Redding Medical Center is topnotch. Diane and Amy are terrific. They are always there for you.

Dr. Nichols certainly does address the risks of surgery, he spends a great amount of time with you during your consult. Overall I would rate him wonderful, great, terrific.

My surgeon is Dr. Nichols and I think he's the greatest! I chose Dr. Nichols because I have had the opportunity to observe both he and Dr. Stone (the only two local doctors doing the surgery) with patients post op and I was impressed with Dr. Nichols manner. I was not the slightest bit disappointed when I had my first one on one meeting with him either; not 5 minutes after he came in to see me in his office, he was pulled aside and told he had an important personal call, he told the nurse to tell them that he would be a few minutes. I was expecting a hurried and brief visit, two hours (and bunches of questions later) I left his office very satisfied with the time he had taken to answer my questions and go over procedures with me.

He was very thorough in regard to what is expected of a qualified patient before and after surgery. He does by no means paint a rosey and/or misleading picture of this risky procedure.

Neither one of the doctors here accept especially high risk patients and are just starting to accept men as apparently they are more difficult and both of these surgeons are still new to this procedure.

I honestly can't think of a single thing I did not like about him.

I do have to say this though, his nurse Kim is helpful, prompt and nice, but the rest of the office staff leave a great deal to be desired. God forbid you should even need to call for information, or even try to return a call for that matter!

I'll update this postop when I'll be able to give a more complete apprasial.

Dr. Nichols is a very sweet, caring, compassionate, HONEST man. My boyfriend and I both went to the consultation and he answered EVERY question we had. Was not afraid to share about any experiences he had or as to how he was trained to do baratric surgery. He was very upfront with the risks involved and did not sugar coat anything. I feel confident in my choice of surgeons.
POST-OP...
Dr. Nichols is the best!!! I have never felt more safe or confident that everything would be ok. He is a wonderful man who deserves way more than just a thank you. My insisions are beautiful. You can barely even see some of them anymore. I am a lucky girl to be under his care. I can't thank him enough.
