Still successful after 14 and a half years! Dr. King saved my life!
Hello, I am 3 yrs and a little over a month post op (7/2/04) and I owe Dr King my life in more ways than 1. I am currently at 167 and this is more than ideal for my height of 6 ft. I am so pleased with my success. I lost my insurance less than a yr after surgery and I have not seen Dr. King but I know he would be pleased with my success. I have no issues at this time unless I am 'stupid' and eat too much. LOL. I dump on sugars so I stay away from them for the most part. The edema is all but gone. Except around the cycle time. So I am NORMAL now. I am running and biking and doing things that I never dreamed 'I' would be able to do. I am fitter now than I was in HS and I am beyond HAPPY! I am sure Dr. King is still as GREAT as he was for me and I would still highly reccommend him to anyone interested in surgery. I would also recommend the surgery to anyone. rnrnWell my first impression was of the office staff. Can you say AWESOME??? Anyway, my appt was at 2 pm. My husband and I had traveled 3 1/2 hours to Oxford and got there early. I visited with the Liv-Lite girls for about 20 minutes and then proceeded to the apt. After checking in and filling out paperwork at about 1:45 pm. We were called back at exactly 2 pm (can you say WOW?) We then spoke to the nurse for about 10 minutes, going over history and such. She gave us an album of before and afters (WOW). We had not even really finished looking over that when Dr. King came in. He answered all of our questions and went over any and all complications in detail! Very impressive, and VERY professional. Then came the exam. He was very courteous and told me that my edema was pretty bad, but would definately improve. Answered some more questions. He then proceeded to complete the appt and gave me my future appt instructions. Overall I was very impressed and my husband was as well (and that is saying something). Would definately recommend him to others.rn
I really like Dr. King and his nurse Robin. He is willing to answer any questions I have. Problem is I do not always know what questions to ask. At my first post-op visit I was not told how many calories to consume or anything about proteins or carbs. Tomorrow I go for my second appointment and will make sure to ask. I want to maximize my efforts and this information is simply not provided.
He is very cautious---I do not think I appreciated this at first but I do now. He is great at what he does. Dr. King was my doctor of choice because of his reputation. I did not find the staff helpful or friendly-I am sorry to say, but I hold him in high regard.
I gave 4 stars, because while I have a great confidence in the doctors and staff, I do feel that they are a bit lax about the after requirements. I need a hard line to not go over or past and they don't give you a goal weight, they encourage you to set an achievable and realistic goal. Also they wont give me a number of calories or an amount of protein to intake. I want to be a success at this and I want to make the most of my tool.

Very compassionate and caring. Sits down with you and speaks directly to you. Explains everything thoroughly. Would recommend Dr King to anyone!
Dr. king is a great physician. He is kind caring and precautious which made me feel comfortable and safe. I am divorced and trust is something that I value especially when it comes to my well being. I am thankful that I decided to follow through with the surgery and more important that I chose Dr. King as my surgeon.
When i first meet Dr.King he was real an straight to the point he wanted me to understand the risk an complications he wanted me to understand what i was getting myself into. I truly valued that even though I heard it a 100 times before, I felt as if he really cared for me as he patient . His whole staff was GREAT especially Angie she was helpful an treated me if she had known me for years . When he told me he did the 2 week diet himself ,I knew i was in the right hands !!!!I will have surgery Jan 19 ,2011 I will post more information about my hospital stay.

i have not met with dr. king yet but my dr. is getting ready for his visit rnsoon.rnrnrni just got my appointment to see dr.king on dec.17,2009, i am really excited, and cat wait to meet him, it has been a 6yr. journey amd im finally moving forward, there is no going back, rnrn
Dr. King is great! He was very supportive and helpful from the beginning, answering any questions and explaining fully. He always takes time to be sure that I understand the what and why.
The staff and Dr. King's office is great ~ they are always glad to assist in any way, and are always very nice. They were extremely helpful in planning and getting ready for surgery.
Dr. King emphasizes that lapband is a TOOL to help ~ not a cure all. That has been very beneficial for me ~ helps me to keep the clear picture.
I would highly recommend Dr. King & his staff/office to anyone in North MS area seeking a surgeon for lapband/bariatric surgery.
All I can say about this man is I LOVE HIM!! He is wonderful, caring, compassionate and is in this for the right reasons...his patients. His nurses are great!! The staff is great and Becky at Liv Lite is heaven sent!! All I can say to future patients is do what your told. There is a reason for what he tells you. He told me everything that could go wrong and explained everything in great detail. I would recommend him to anyone who is truly interested in this sugery and willing to do what it takes for success.
