Dr King was the greatest. He discussed everything at great length. I wasnt rushed amd he made me feel like I was the only person he was concerned about that day. I would highly reccomend him to anyone that is looking to have this surgery. I know he has patients that come to him from all over the US and now I know why.

dr. booth saw me as a patient for the first time on april 10,2001. Vocational Rehab. is paying for my surgery. the letter that voc rehab. needs was not sent for weeks. i called several times to find out the hold up. glen and diana were very kind and considerate, but i was never given a straight answer. Then, around mid may, i was informed that dr. booth was no longer accepting voc rehab as of april 28,2001. OK, i could not see how that would affect me since i was a patient before then. However, i was told that i would not be accepted as a patient. THAT WAS VERY UNNERVING. i didnt want to push the issue too hard because i didnt really want anyone to be cutting on me because they felt forced or obligated to. now my case worker and i are working on finding another surgeon. it looks like i may be traveling to Oxford, ms to see Dr. King.

I have an appointment to see Dr. King on Aug.07. SEPT 1, 2001....I SAW DR. KING ON AUG. 7. I FOUND HIM TO BE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND VERY KIND. HE WAS VERY UPFRONT WITH ME AND REMINDED ME HOW SERIOUS MY WEIGHT ISSUE IS..YOU SEE-I LOVE TO LIVE IN DENIAL THAT I HAVE GAINED 130LBS IN 10 YEARS. HE REMINDED ME THAT I WILL HAVE A MUCH SHORTER LIFE SPAN IF I DONT HAVE THE SURGERY(NOT THAT I WAS QUESTIONING HAVING THE SURGERY.......CUZ I'M NOT.) BUT...HE INFORMED ME THAT I WILL CONTINUE TO GAIN WEIGHT AND IT WONT STOP WITHOUT HELP. IT WAS AN EYE OPENER..ESPECIALLY ABOUT THE LIFE SPAN. MY CASE WORKER HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL COVER THE SURGERY.THEY ARE WAITING ON THE FUNDS........WHICH SHOULD BE AVAILABLE ON OCT.1. THE DR. OFFICE SAID THAT WAS GOOD TIMING BECAUSE I WILL PROBABLY BE SCHEDULED FOR SOMETIME IN OCT........JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR LOTS OF PAPERWORK TO BE CLEARED BEFORE I CAN ACTUALLY HAVE THE DATE SCHEDULED....PRAY FOR ME...PLEASE. I MEAN THAT SINCERELY....I PRAY FOR ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THIS TRUE BATTLE. PRAY THAT EVERYTHING GOES AS I HOPE IT WILL. I WILL UPDATE AGAIN WHEN I HAVE THE DATE SCHEDULED. ALSO...THE EXCITED ANXIETY IS TAKING UP MUCH OF MY BRAIN TIME.....DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HELPING TIME PASS FASTER?

Dr. King seemed to be very professional and concerned about my welfare. He describes the surgery in detail and is very clear on risks involved. He strikes me as a doctor who will not tell you what you want to hear but what you need to know. The staff was very nice. The wait was less than desirable but he seems to have a large patient load. He seems strict concerning followup and aftercare with him but does allow for basic labs to be drawn locally if you are from out of town as I am.
So far I am pleased with his bed side manner and straight forwardness.

I have only been to see Dr King once, for my initial consultation. He seemed very nice. His office staff was also very nice. They answered all questions I had. I really dont know him too well yet, but will update soon.

I have now been with Dr King 3 times. I just want to say that I really didnt believe all the people who said this man was so wonderful.....but, so far, he is just a precious, precious person. he has the nicest manner, he is gentle, and so very very very nice and polite, and takes so much time with me as a person. asks me over and over if i have any more questions to ask him. he has never rushed me at all. i cant wait to see him again!! i wish i could see this man for all my health needs. i have had no problems with his staff at all. they have been so very nice, they answer all questions patiently and always return my call promptly if they cant talk when i call. i have nothing bad to say at all at this time. my surgery is 15 days away!!!

My first impression of Dr. King was a very pleasant one. I had already found out about himon the internet and through some of the girls at work who had had the gastric bypass surgery preformed. He was very patient at explaining the procedure to me although I had already studied the procedure on the internet. I was so excited and coulded until my surgery date to come. His office staff was so incouragable. They all were so happy for me. Dr. King was striaght forward with his answers. There were no jokes to put relax me. It was strictly professional. I would recommend him to anyone considering having this surgery done. He constantly stressed how important it is to keep all of your appointments after surgery. So far I've keeped all of my appointments. I thank God for finding Dr. King.

I really like Dr. King. He is a very nice man and I have also heard very wonderful things about him.
I have been told that he also has a wonderful bedside manner, but I havent experienced that yet. I will soon, though. :)
The staff is wonderful. Especially Angie. She is the greatest. And Becky at LivLite. They are wonderful ladies.
Dr. King is very big on aftercare. He tells you up front that you will be coming to see him for the rest of your life and he also stresses that you keep your appointments. This is very important.
Dr.King addressed the risks of the surgery and as with any surgery, there are risks involved.
I give Dr.King, to this point, a 10. 10 being the highest.
Both. But, I had rather have surgical competence over bedside manner. I had much rather my doctor know what he is doing vs. his manner.

Great to talk to
I loved his frankness as to why he does RNY
and not VGB
He is a skilled surgeon and I feel
blessed to have found him in Oxford,MS
What impressed me was his support for
matinenance and Group Support Meetings

DR. KING IS A FINE MAN. HE IS VERY GENTLE, AND VERY COMPASSIONATE TOWARD HIS PATIENTS.
I HAVE TALKED WITH A COUPLE OF HIS PATIENTS THAT HAVE ALREADY HAD SURGERY AND THEY SEEMED TO BE VERY COMFORTABLE WITH HIM. HE ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND HIS STAFF WAS ABLE TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT I CALLED LATER AND ASKED. EVERYONE HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL.
AFTERCARE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DR. KING. HE ALSO LETS YOU KNOW OF ALL THE POSSIBLE RISK THAT ARE TAKEN IN HAVING THIS SURGERY.AT THIS POINT(BEFORE SURGERY) I WOULD RATE HIM VERY WELL.
