My first impression of Dr. King was that he seemed sincere and caring. He was very upfront about the ins and outs of the surgery, what to expect, the risks involved and the life change it would have. I was at the point to where I was just miserable. My family was worried about me being around to see my kids grow up. Since surgery I have regained my life. I am able to do outside activities with the family now such as hiking and working in the yard as a family. Like Dr. King says this is just a tool. I myself have done things at times I know I shouldn't but I tell myself to get back on track and go on. Dr. King and his entire staff are just wonderful. When I would get sick and have to call in on the weekends I would have a call back within 5 minutes. And one time when I was sick on the weekend and had to call; on Monday when I got to work, first thing Robin had called to check on me. I greatly appreciate Dr. King and his staff for all you do.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. KING WAS HE WAS CONFIDENT. I WAS NOT WRONG BY THIS IMPRESSION MY OPINION HAS NOT CHANGED. THE OFFICE STAFF WAS FRIENDLYrnAND THEOFFICE HAD COMFORTABLE SEATINGrnTHE THING I LIKED LEAST ABOUT MY VISIT WAS THE WAITING, BUT THE DR. WAS WHAT I LIKED. HE WILL NOT SUGARCOAT ANYTHING HE IS GOING TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH ABOUT THE SURGERY. YOU WILL NEED TO COME SEE HIM ON YOUR APPT DATES AND IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL . HE EXPLAINS THE RISKS OF SURGERY AND MAKES SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THEM. I AM RATING DR. KING AS A TEN. HE DOES NOT SMILE A LOT HE APPEARS TO BE ALL BUSSINESS; HOWEVER, HE DOES SEEM TO GENUINLY CARE ABOUT ME.

Dr. King did my Lap Band surgery. He and his whole staff have a great bedside manner and answered all my questions. He even has a seminar set up for people interested to learn about the surgery! If you are in Mississippi I would recommend him, very professional, very matter of fact, and tells you like it is! He also was quick to call back after we paged him to ask a question (within 5 minutes)rnrnThe only complaint I have about the office is I ususally have to wait an hour or more AFTER my appoitment to see the doctor.

My first impression of Dr. King was that he truly cares about his patients. From the first time I met him I knew he was the perfect surgeon for me. He generally cares and makes certain to explain everything in full detail so there is no question left unanswered before surgery. He is very thorough in what he expects and the rules of WLS. The staff is excellent and helped me in so many ways. I would recommend him to everyone in the area looking to have WLS.

First impression of Dr. King--it was obvious that he is up on the latest information regarding bariatric surgery and that he truly cares. He sees obesity as a disease and is non-judgemental and kind in dealing with his patients. At my first appointment he was meticulous in explaining the procedure and patient to answer my endless list of questions. He made me feel so at ease. His office staff are all friendly and efficient. Becky Wilson is the RN who guides the patient through the initial process and was absolutely wonderful. She is enthusiastic about helping the patient figure out what is best for them and always had a smile for me. rnHis pre op diet is stricter than most surgeons. I was very unsure of my ability to stick to it. He explained that it was necessary in order to make the surgery as uncomplicated as possible. But it had another effect on me. Going \"cold turkey\" with food revealed just what a hold overeating had on my daily life. The two weeks of liquids prepared me for the post op period and also gave me confidence that I would be able to make the life changes necessary for the surgery to be successful.rnIt is important to have a skillful surgeon and desirable that he/she understand obesity and all of the emotional aspects that go along with it. Dr. KIng is one of those rare surgeons who possesses both qualities.

The first thing I can recall upon meeting Dr. King was his smile and his firm handshake not to mention 'eye contact'. This conveyed to me his concrete professionalism and his 'air of confidence' regarding his field of study, critique.rnrnThe office staff has been 'awesome' from beginning to now. There has never been one time I have called the surgical clinic OR Ms. Wilson's office and felt I was being given the 'run around' or ignored. There was never a 'insignificant' question or issue. rnrnThere wasn't anything I really 'disliked' about Dr. King ... he definitely puts all the 'information' up front and pulls no punches. You know from the initial visit what to expect.rnrnDr. King is a 'stickler' for pre op and post op instructions being followed consistently. He insures his patients are aware of what their responsiblities are before, during and after surgery. He also reminds you that wls is merely a TOOL and not a solution; it works IF you work it!rnrnYou are not overwhelmed with 'after care' instructions all at one sitting. Dr. King slowly reintroduces food to your body and if one follows his directions and truly has a mind set to restructure their intake, etc., the wls will most definitely be successful.rnrn

Dr King is a knowledgeble and caring surgeon. I meet him a a seminar for WLS that he and Dr Byars did in Tupelo. The more I got to know him I understood how seriously he wants his patients to suceed. Which means you follow the rules if preop dieting so you can have a smooth sucessful surgery and recovery. His office staff is great. He addressed the risks of surgery more than once, he makes sure you understand what you are about to do. I would rate him a 10 overall. I think surgical competence and bedside manner are both important because you need to be comfortable with the person who is doing your wls. You must know that Dr King is strict about pre-op ans post-op diet. If he tells you to do something that's what he expects from you. If you do not follow his instructions you may not have the outcome you expect. You can't blame your surgeon ifrn you do not following his rules and guidelines. This is my opinion.
