Very happy with Dr. Sofronski so far. Yes, he is a bit blunt, very straightforward and insistent on doing things right. He is a stickler for the diet journals, but that is a GOOD thing! This office has a GREAT educational, nutrition and aftercare program. For comparison, I previously went through most of the pre-op stuff at University of Penn in Philadelphia, and compared to them, Delmarva Bariatric's program is simply top notch. At Penn, I felt like one cattle being prodded down a line of many. There was minimal nutritional guidance, no emphasis placed on changing diet, just "do X,Y,Z pre-op testing and we will schedule your surgery." I am so glad I didn't have the surgery there - I am sure it would have worked just fine, but I am PUMPED to have Dr. S and Delmarva Bariatric there to provide me with a better program to help me truly succeed and use the tool of bariatric surgery to my benefit. When you are blowing UofP out of the water, you are doing something right! I trust fully that with the tools Dr. Sofronski is giving me, I will gain a new lease on life soon.

I thought Sofranski would be there for me if i had complications. But when my insurance dropped and i got sick he bailed. Wouldn't let him operate on my dog! Thats why i haven't been on a computer in almost 7 years. You better pray you stay healthy after surgery and you keep your insurance just in case.

first impression was that he was very kind and gentle. As time went on he proved to me even more how loving and caring he could be. He always asked me what was going on in my life and got onme when he and i both knew i was overeating before i even had a surgery date and he would threaten not to do my surgery if i didn't stop. ALWAYS telling me it is NOT about the money with him. AND I believe him 100%. If you want someone that truly cares about your health and well being. This is the surgeon you should choose. His staff is very kind and caring as well. Wonderful structured aftercare as well. Support meeting, personal trainer, and a nutrionist! Mandatory 1 full year! Do i need to say more?

I love Dr. Sofronski...He is tough on you, but understands when you fall off the bandwagon. I was so nervous the day of my surgery, except when he finally walked in, the nervousness went away. I know that he is always on my side rooting for me.

I met Dr. Sofronski today, and he is awesome! He made me realize and understand that this will be the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. I have a lot of changes to make, and a lot of motivation to grasp, but I feel that this will all work, and he made me feel like it would. I love love love him! I recommend him and his facility to anyone!

First Impression: I thought that he really cared about what he does. He cares about his patients on a personal level.

Change over time: I just realized more so that he cares about each of us. He takes the time to talk to us, he knows each of us on a personal level. If he doesn't he will make it a point to get to know you better.

Office Staff: The office staff has to be the nicest group of people I have ever met. Any other place I have been, they seem to be uninterested in what they do, like it's simply a job. At Delmarva Bariatric Center they really care about the patients and their well being.

Like Least: I can't say that I have found anything that I dislike yet. I will say that he is very straight forward and he does not hesitate to tell you about the CRAP that you have been eating when he reads your Food Journals.

Future Patients: They should know that they can trust him as a friend and a doctor. I haven't met a professional like him in quite some time, and he's the best doctor I have ever been involved with. Just know that you can tell him anything, he wants to know how you are.

Aftercare: BIG EMPHASIS!!!! He makes it known how critical it is to take care of yourself after surgery. It will never hurt you to ask for his opinion on things afterwards, he will help you.

Risks: He made it very clear that it is a potential life threatening surgery. He tells all the possibilities and tells you what he'll be doing during surgery. He takes the extra step and makes sure each of his patients have the Vena Cava Filter to prevent blood clots from rising above your legs.

Rate: Overall I would say that Dr. Sofronski is an excellent doctor. He is an excellent person, outside of the doctor talk. He is very personable and pleasant to talk with.

I haven't experienced this yet, but I am willing to bet he's good with both.

I really like Dr. Sofronski. When I first went to the seminar I was pumped and he was exellent! I wasn't sure about his staff when I first met them but they called me and kept me informed of everything. The thing I love is that sometimes he answers the phone and is right there at the desk when you come in. He was good about explaining thing also! I would recommend him to everyone!

I had my lap-band surgery over 2 years ago. What a change in my life! Well over a 120+++ pounds later and I am a different person -- more like my \"old self\". It feels good to be able to walk up and down the stairs without getting winded. I excercise more and love the new clothes. rnrnThe staff and Dr. S have been wonderful. The emphasis on eating right, understanding the psychology of why you eat have been the most important aspect of my WL journey. It was more then the tool of the band, it was learning to excercise again, learning what and when not to eat and most of all, learning to love my body. I am ready for this to be the best first new day of my life, everyday. I couldn't have done this without my new tool. rnrnThanks to Dr. S and his wonderful staff! rnrn

My first impression of my surgeon is that he is very smart and really wants to help people. My impression of him in that respect has not changed and I am six months post op. He still strikes me as very smart and very helpful. His office staff is great. There are a ton of them being that his is the only center around my area. They have a gym on site and I use it all the time. It is really going to be part of the key to getting my weight off. They also have support group and nutritional meetings, which I have not attended that much but I know a lot of other patients do attend and like them. Normally, I am not a group meeting type of personality. I would much rather use an online support group. I would rate my surgeon as excellent. He has a lot of prior work experience in trauma care and surgery which is a plus.

I am in the early stages of getting approved for surgery. I went to the LapBand seminar last week and really liked what Dr. Sofronski had to say. He seemed very devoted to his patients. This was the second surgeon I have seen and after meeting him and his staff I made the decision that this physician was definately the physician for me. His office has an extensive aftercare program that offers so much support to his patients and he seems to care about their success with the surgery.
