The program at University of Penn Hospital provides comprehensive care. In order to be in the program you first have to attend an information session, which if you have been a responsible patient and researched the procedure you already know... You also must not only meet with your surgeon, and get a physical from a nurse practioner, you must also meet with the nutritionist there.. they have two on staff Rachel and Cara. You also must meet with a psychologist. Everyone you meet has to sign off on your surgery, including your PCP.

All I have to say is Dr. Noel Williams and his team took really good care of me... I met with him several times prior to my surgery and each time it just gave me more of a reassurance that he had my best interest at heart. The morning of surgery he came in to chat with me and my husband, and the next day after the surgery he came in to see how I was doing.( i was sooo shocked cause he is a busy guy...lol)

You see I was originally suppose to have my sugery in April, but I experience some complications with the anesthesia... so this time around the Surgical and Anesthesia team wanted to make sure I was good fro surgery... They did everything in there power to make my sugery a "GO"... so here I am now just shy of 3 weeks post op and feeling great... Dr. Noel Williams(my surgeon) and Dr. Asish Sinha (my ansethesiologist) You guys are the BOMB, thanks for helping me in my journey to a healthy life...

Dr. Williams was wonderful. I saw him at my pre-op appointment and he answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. His staff is wonderful, and they all know their jobs very well. If you want a top notch surgeon and a very professional well trained staff, I would highly recommend the HUP program and Dr. Williams. If you are looking for a surgeon who will be personally available to you at all times, this isn't the program for you, but I feel that Dr. Williams is a fantastic surgeon, and what he should be doing is surgery! His practitioners are well qualified to provide patient care as well.

He completed my surgery and I truly felt like I received great care from Dr. Williams and his team. The only problem I have is that I am 9 months post-op and I've never seen my doctor again. Every follow up office visit has been with the PA, NP and Nutrionist.

MY DOCTOR WAS EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, ENGAGING & INFORMATIVE, EXUDING TOTAL CONFIDENCE. HE ILLUSTRATED THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WOULD BE DONE DETAILING ALL RISKS ALONG THE WAY. rnrnHIS STAFF WAS EXTREMELY EFFICIENT, SUPPORTIVE & EMPATHETIC -SHARING THE FEELINGS OF THEIR PATIENTS & OFFERING ENCOURAGEMENT THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS. rnrnTHE AFTERCARE IS ADDRESSED THROUGH MONTHLY MEETINGS OF BARIATRIC PATIENTS, BOTH PRE- & POST-OP.rnrnI RATE HIM AS \"EXCELLENT\". WHILE BOTH SURGICAL COMPETENCE & BEDSIDE MANNER ARE BOTH GREAT, SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST. YOU DO NOT REALLY SEE THE DOCTOR DURING/AFTER SURGERY BECAUSE HIS SURGICAL TEAM IS VERY PROFICIENT IN PREPPING YOU FOR SURGERY & ACTUALLY OVERSEES YOUR FOLLOW-UP CARE WHILE IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER SURGERY.

Dr. Williams has a great team put together at the Univ of Penn. They were all very warm, friendly and informative during my first two appointments. He was recommended to me by people who have had this surgery by him in the past.

Consult - rnHad my surgical consult on August 22nd. My experience with the Nurse Practitioner, Nutritionist as well as Dr Williams, was very nice. Everyone could not have been more attentive and genuine. I look forward to working with Dr. Williams and his staff during my WLS journey. rnrnHUP has a very structured pre & post surgical support system in place. rnrnI would like to have spent a little more time with Dr Williams, but he did answer all my questions and explain the surgery completely.rnrnThese are my personal opinions and first impressions.rnrnSurgery - rnrnSaw Dr Williams a few weeks before my surgery in passing at the hospital and we spoke a for a minute. Otherwise I would not have seen him again until I was just about to go into the operating room. I think this is pretty standard procedure for all surgeons. He was very warm and comforting to me as we spoke prior to surgery. I felt very confident. The anethesiologist spent ALOT of time with me just prior to surgery answering every question I had and making sure I felt comfortable with everything that was going to happen. I really appreciated that. Dr. Williams came to see me the next day and spent a few minutes as he was making his rounds. I feel my surgery couldn't have gone any better. rnrnI would highly recommend him as a surgeon.
