My first impression of Dr. Aslam and his entire office was that they were VERY pressed for time. At first this made me feel uncomfortable contacting them when I had issues. Over time I found them to be quite pleasant and I have always found them responsive to my concerns. John Cooper, Surgical Assistant, was wonderful and took a lot of time to explain things before the surgery. When I had trouble after surgery, Jeanie took my problems very seriously and the issue was resolved quickly. All other members of the office have been kind, educated and patient with me.

Dr. Aslam and his staff were very up front about the dangers of this surgery. Dr. Aslam is very cautious and seemed to take extra precautions with his patients. I have spoken to people throughout the country who have had RNY surgery and rarely do I meet people whose surgeons required as much testing OR took precautions that Dr. A does.

I am very happy to have gone to Dr. Aslam. Another doctor advised me to go to a bigger city to have the surgery done, but members of this site gave Dr. A the best rating in the state.

I would rate his surgical competance better than his bedside manner ONLY BECAUSE I am so impressed with how I have recovered. I had very little pain in the hospital. I have had NO PAIN since day 8. I feel completely myself again.

ABOUT THE HOSPITAL... Maine General in Augusta has the highest rating in the state of Maine according to members of this website. I cannot say enough about how great they were. They were attentive to every need. They were very kind to me. I didn't want for anything while I was there. Excellent staff.

I definately would recommend Dr. Aslam.

My first impression of Dr.Aslam was a very quiet man, down to earth wanting people to desire to use this as a tool. I have continued to feel this way about him. Although quick due to a lot of clients, he seems to take that extra minute that he needs to . His office staff seem rushed and tripping over each other, yet, its a busy office, each one is on a "Mission".
As for John, Dr. Aslams surgical assistant, wow what a wonderful man. So caring and for what Dr. Aslam may not have time for, John will! I should say John is a GREAT spokes person!!!
As for Dr. Aslam, I honestly would give him a A++ for preventive care with his patients that are upfront and honest about medical conditions. I knowingly have had a difficult time healing, Dr. Aslam was not afraid to take care of my concerns, and was very cautious with my history. He was able to give me laproscopic surgery even at my weight, and that was SO impressive. His bed side manner was superb. He enjoys seeing his patients helping to make themselves better.
I would recommend the Surgeon for any surgical needs!
I am sure he has a negative side, yet for me and my weight, I have found him to be refreshingly accepting of "my" obesity. Not that he liked my size, I was treated with respect.

When I first met Dr. Aslam was at orientation there were three other people there also he explianed the surgery and went around the room asking each of us why we wanted the surgery. I was a little nervous but he seemed very pleasant and was concerned about how we felt. the second time was a week before my surgery first I met with his assistant John he explained everything about what to expect during and after surgery when I met Dr. Aslam he made me feel very comfortabe and answered all my questions so I coud understand. He stressed that aftercare is very important keeping your appointments is also important so he knows you are doing good with the band or whatever you had done.you can still have problems after.Dr, Aslam makes sure you know all of the risks of the surgery even the mourning of he checks in with you. I would rate Dr. Aslam's surgical competense, bedside manner on a scale of 1-10 a 9 I feel he is great.

Dr. Aslam seems very intelligant and let you know up front the risks that are involved. He seems very concerned about his patients and I like how he tells you that this isn't a quick fix that bariatric surgery is a tool but you have to be the one to make the lifestyle change to make it work. He has been doing surgeries for over 30 years. He was very polite and answered all my questions that I had. He also allows you to pick the surgery you want.

Dr. Aslam was mild mannered and delightful. He spoke kindly and candidly about the surgery, the benefits and risks, and why these were important.
Dr. Aslam is a dedicated surgeon and I would go back to him again if I had any other surgical problems. His office staff were great. I had most of my dealings with Jeannie and Darlene and you couldnt ask for better support.
Dr. Aslam states the rules related to smoking and use of drugs in the first interview. He means business and he does so rightly. A visit from the dietician in the hospital was helpful, and Dr. Aslam provided written guidelines related to diet after surgery.
Dr. Aslam has provided me with the tools to change my life and I thank him gratefully.

I met Dr. Aslam when I had my consult and he seemed like he cared/as well as keeping each person informed with answers to all your questions. The staff in the office were so nice and when they look at you, you feel like a person. For some of us it's been awhile. I just wish I had half of Dr. Aslams energy.

When I met Dr. Aslam I liked him right away, he was so calm and he did not try to sell me on this surgery, just the oppisite he told me all the risk especially for someone my age then 55, I thought that was realy upfront and made me kow he was sincere and concrned about my health , not just operating to make money, I trusted him from there on in.
He was very good to me when I had complications and never made me feel like I was bothering him, and had great bedside manners, he also called my family, even my daughter who was out of state when ever they had questions.
He is a great Doctor, I admire him very much and would never have had anyone else than him do my surgery.
He addresses the risk of the surgery very well as I said.
Has a great aftercare program

Dr Aslam was wonderful. My first impression was He is very tall and skinny and was worried how he would feel about us. The staff in his office are very helpful friendly and always seem so cheerful. I can not say I know anything I don't like about any of them. Ask questions!!! He has been doing this for a while and we all don't have the same concerns and he is not a mind reader. Don't be afraid to ask even if you think it’s a dumb question. They are very strong about stressing keeping clean and walk, walk, walk. I feel both Dr. Aslam and all his staff were very clear about the risks and the long term benefits. He lays it right on the table about the risk. This I saw scared some at the consultation. But we needed to know the risk. I likes how open he was. I didn't really see Dr. Aslam much while at the hospital. I had no complications. I feel he was great with the surgical procedure. When I went back to the office for removal of feeding tubes that’s when I really go to see his bed side manners. Dr. Aslam really talked slow and told me step by step what I would feel and when it would hurt a little. I truly like him as a doctor and would recommend him to anyone.

My first impression of Dr.Aslam was...He looks like he was always deep in thought and he needs to slow down a little...I liked him. I still feel the same way about him. His office staff are angels amongst themselves. They have patience that I don't think I will ever have espicially dealing with me!!! Future patients should not be intimidated by Dr.Aslam.He is a very nice man and he listens very well to all your needs. He is very persistant that you make all your appointemnts. It's very crucial for you to do that anyway. Aftercare is wonderful. The support you get from him and his staff is amazing. He puts them right out there which I liked. Pull no punches. Overall...Dr Aslam cares alot about his patients and what happens before and after surgery. He may not seem it but he does. SURGICAL COMPETENCE all the way and Dr. Aslam has that.
