My first impression of Dr. Aslam was of how quiet he was. He's soft-spoken, quick to the point, but seemingly very thorough. His two nurses, Jeannie and Nancy are wonderful. What one may not have an answer for, the other does, or they will find you one. They all pretty much fully informed me before the surgery of what was to happen. Postop is also extremely thorough. There are weekly visits, then biweekly, and eventually every 3 months. My blood was tested often (ugh!) for nutrients, or lack of. Another wonderful feature of the Augusta office is the monthly support group. Any questions you may have are answered by people who have been through it. As far as Dr. Aslam's bedside manner, I guess all doctors are busy. He did stop by to see me several times while i was in the hospital. He did make me shut off the tv, though! I would highly recommend Dr. Aslam and his staff. They know what they're doing.

my first impression was actually, well ii'm not really sure. i was kind of defensive at first, so it did'nt make my impression of him very accurate.as time went on my impression got better and better. he is very careful in screening patients, and if he feels that you are not ready, he will tell you. but he and his staff will work with you through everything that you must do to become ready, if the surgury is at least an option to you!! his office staff is exellent!!!!!!! i had absolutely no complaints about my doc or any of his staff. as a matter of fact his nurse jeannie is the best!As far as aftercare he stresses both beforecare and after! Icalled his beeper# after i was home from hospital and he was on the phone within 5 min. I could'nt believe it! His aftercare program, in my opinion is very structured as well as thorough. The risks of the surgury were well explained. The only thing i did not like was the waiting, but i had to get alot done before i could be a success story! RATING OVERALL I would say he is going to do everything in his power to help, those willing to help themselves. If you are committed, go for it!

I had my first meeting with Dr. Aslam last week. I found him gentle! He did NOT speak condescendingly to me. He did NOT hurry me. He DID answer all my questions (and I had a few). I was not disappointed at all. He was sweeter than I had been told and not full of himself at all. He is a very accomplished surgeon and sports many credentials and yet is as down to earth as anyone I know. I felt comfortable and at ease with him immediately.
He surrounds himself with the very BEST. Dr. Brassard will be my pulmonary specialist and Dr. Maganty will be my Anethetist durring surgery. I am confidant that I truly have the best and I am looking forward to Wednesday with little trepidation.

I am 2 weeks post-op today and doing extreemly well. I loved Dr. Aslam and the way he took care of me. The day of my surgery I was coherant, happy and my family could not believe how great I was doing. I was not sick after surgery nor was I in any pain. I was only THIRSTY! The MaineGeneral Hospital Staff was amazing. I was treated respectfully, kindly and attended to medically. It didn't matter if I used my call button several times in a row, one thing I DID NOT Get, was attitude. Every single person I came in contact with, was fabulous to me. As I lay waiting to go into the O.R. my pastor had called and said he was on his way. The staff and Dr. Aslam waited until my pastor arrived, because they knew it was important to me. Dr. Aslam surrounds himself with the best. I consider Dr. Aslam to be very competent, caring and a gentle soul (he also has a cute smile). He stopped by to say hello and to assure me everything was going to be okay, before I went in to the O. R..
I have to give a heads up to this team. Dr. Aslam, the hospital team, Jeannie Colter (heads the program), Nancy Tarr (Dr. Aslams surgical nurse)who is delightful, and the competence surrounding the whole team. I would rate this team as AAA1 overall and highly reccommend it to anyone considering this type of surgery. If anyone feels like chatting about this, please feel free to contact me via EMail.

I havent met with Dr Aslam yet (Oct 5) but that Jeannie Colter....Thank God for Jeannie. I dont know how we would get this surgery without her stepping up to the plate for us...She's such a peach...thanks Jeannie

October 4...I met with Dr Aslam today and we talked about the surgery I will be having. He's very nice. I met with one of his nurses today also...Nancy is also very nice. Its all a go...now to patiently wait for my surgery date.

When I first met Dr. Aslam I was very much at ease with him, and was taken whith his caring manner. My admiration for Dr. Aslam has grown with every meeting. Everyone on his staff is very professional and yet very friendly and supportive. I appreciate Dr. Aslam's willingness to answer every question you have, no question is too stupid to ask and he puts you at ease. Dr. Aslam is a very quiet man when you first meet him but he "opens up" the more you get to know him. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone wanting surgery, he is A#1 in my book. As for determining which is better, his surgical competence or bedside manner, I'd have to say they are both great. He and his right-hand gal, Jeannie,RN,C, answer all questions you may have before you decide on surgery and they both address the risks of surgery. Dr. Aslam and staff work with you very closely after surgery.

The only negative thing I have to say about the whole procedure was that my drain tube was accidentally stitched in but Dr. Aslam quickly corrected the problem and to avoid the chances of it happening again, he no longer uses that particular type of drain tube

I have not met with Dr. Aslam yet. I have met with his nurse Jeanie who has been wonderful. I have a surgery date scheduled for 12/1/99. The first date they gave me was changed which upset me a lot. Now I have changed my work schedule again and I hope this doesn't change. I am nervous but excited. I want to live a long life and I think this is my best shot. My medical insurance was a long time getting approved due to reasons I still don't understand.

The first time I meet Dr.Aslam, I had a hard time speaking. One might laugh, but to me he was God, and he held the key to my future. I was afraid if I said the wrong thing he might not do the surgey.

Jeanie, his nurse, was wonderful. For the first time in my life I meet someone who didn't make me feel ashame because I was over weight.

She told me what to do, when to do. Pretty much walk me thought it. I cried on her shoulds so many times. But she was empathic, and always gave me hope.

Nancy, who I believe is Dr. Aslam right hand, She has a great bedside manner. You have to love her for it. I can said anything to her. She is a real down to earth kind of person.

Dr. Aslam was very nice and very quite.
My friends that went to him told me alot
about him and the staff. The staff is
wonderful and willing to help any way
they can. They will get you approved!
Everybody is always willing to answer my
questions. You can call them at home and
beep them any time of the day. He generally
wants what's best for you which is a
rarity. Being that I'm an out of state
patient of his, I would go back again.
