Dr. Batty was great, he explained the risks and what to expect from the surgery. He made sure to tell me the the lap-band was not a miricle cure, but a tool that can help with my weight loss, if I do what I am supposed to do.

My first impression of Dr Batty was that he was very approachable and made me feel comfortable from the first minute. He was very informative and patient with my two pages of questions! He was honest and open about all the surgery risks. He also was good about reminding me that my band would be a tool, not the cure all. He is a very experienced bariatric/laproscopic surgeon. After my surgery, i had a lot of questions about nutrition. He actually called me back himself. That made me feel very important. His office staff is awesome too! If i had it to do over again, i would pick him again!

Dr. Batty is a great surgeon! I'm not afraid of anything as long as you have the LORD on your side, however I was A little nervous that it was surgery and all.The staff is great, most of all they're up front about the surgery.I personally have nothing bad to say about Dr. Batty! I belive a person who's thinking about the surgery should go in with a clear mind and be open to whatever he or she may say about the prosedure.First pray on it and if you think it's something you think you might want to pursue, claim it in the name of JESUS. Dr. Batty gave us an option for after care or we could come to his office to see him.Dr.Batty tells you the pro's and cons about the surgery and he'll tell you the choice is yours.I belive gastric bypass surgery is better than lap-band the band is known to break or even caroad inside, but it's best to do the research your self so your aware of what you may encounter, but also for knowledge.

Dr. Batty was straight forward, honest, and supportive through out the entire process. He was always available to answer any questions my husband or I had, he would actually return our calls at home, now how many physicians do that these days. He did not give us false hope. He made sure we understood the that surgery is the first step but I would have to work hard for the rest of my life, surgery just allows me to see results more quickly and to help me to become disciplined when making food and life style choices. He has been a great support system both pre and post op.Dr. Batty incorporates both surgical competence and a great bed side manner, thanks Dr. Batty.

'My first impression of Dr. Batty was boy he sure has a lot of freckles and is tall. He seemed very down to earth and was very knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and told me I would have to have test done and my HMO Doctor would have to send in for approval. No problem. Had the tests done

My first impressions of Dr Batty were positive. I found him down to earth and easy to talk to. He was frank and open about the risks and about his experiance. His staff is easy to work with. He is a capable surgeon focusing on vascular and thorasic surgery, therefore GBS does not seem to be his first interest although he does many of them. I think his GBS post-op instructions are very informal and unstructured with few hard rules. His support group is thru Provena St Joseph hospital in Elgin.

I believe he is a competent surgeon. He also did my hernia, abdominoplasty and panny. So far so good. I am thinking of using him to also repair my varicose veins.

Dr. Batty was pretty much straight to the point, throughout the whole procedure.

Okay - I met with Dr. Batty this week for my initial consultation. Well, my first mistake was that I brought my two children with me 4yrs and 1yr. His office is a 40 minute drive and I had to drop my children off at my sister house afterwards which was another 30 minutes in the same direction, so to avoid an hour and half of lost time, I brought them with me. DID I SAY MISTAKE! Anyway, at first he was patient with my children (being a tad more animated to keep their attention) and when the older one made the younger one hit her head and the tears started pouring out - he did a very fast exit. I barely remember the words he said as he ran out, I still had questions and was totally unsure about what to expect next with scheduling a date, the insurance process on my/his part. Anyway, I left with a screaming headache and none the wiser. I could have spent a 1/2 hour on this site and learned more. The next day, I did the phone calls to both my pcp and talked to the nurse at Dr. Batty's office and I feel a little more confident on what the next steps are. I guess I won't get a date until my tests are done (I originally was going to try and get a date before school started - I have a little one starting kindergarten this year) but the nurse told me that Dr. Batty was going on vacation the 3rd week of August, so I have come to the conclusion that this won't happen, so I am taking the patient approach (not my strongest, but why beat myself up over something I can't control.) Anyway, he was informative to some point, and he did say that no one has "really died after he has performed the surgery" so I guess that's a good thing. I have researched him and he appears to have excellent credentials. He says he does 3 or 4 a week. I am in an HMO so he is basically my choice and I couldn't imagine going through all of this with another doctor. I would rate him on a scale from 1-10 as a 7 and hope that my future interractions are better.

I first met Dr. Batty in Feburary 2004, He and I sat down and talked about the surgery. He gave me a whole stack of mateial to read. He siad that he would not do the surgery unless I resurched what I was getting into. His staff in the office was a great help. I am a paramedic and I tend to ask a lot of questions. So they answered everything in a very timely manner and with great detail. I would suggest that you keep a pad a paper handy so when a question comes up you can write it down and then when you contact the office you have the list so you do not forget anything that you needed questions on.
