This doctor was charged with sexual battery in 2015 by the Cumberland Co DA's office. I went to the office once for a consult and during the consult the Dr. kept contacting my hand, making me uncomfortable, he finally stopped midway through the consult. However after looking at my stomach, he told me he needed to see my stomach, as he put my shirt down he reached is right hand into the neckline of my shirt under my bra and quickly squeezed my breasts. He immediately turned his back to me and started writing in my medical record. I was in shock. As he went to end the consult and leave the room I challenged him on what he had just done, and he froze for a moment before telling me that he had just performed a breast exam, and that it was routine.
Later in court he testified that he performs all of his breast exams that way, with the patient fully clothed. For the record I myself an a doctor, and my only intent for pressing criminal charges against this man is because I believe him to be predatory. I spoke out about what happened to me and I have been accused of doing it for financial gain. I have never attempted to sue this man for financial gain.
I am posting here to warn women, that if this man thinks he can assault you and get away with it he will. Be very careful. I believe he was looking for my response when he kept touching my hand as I was sitting there.

My mother has been going to Dr. Carter for two years and will continue to go to him. She would not be here if it wasn't for him. He goes above and beyond. Works late and weekends when others don't. He is a great doctor and explains and let's you know everything that's going on with you. God has put Dr. Carter here to serve His people and that's what he does. He loves all his patients and our family loves him!! You keep on keeping on Dr. Carter, God's got it all in control.

My My! Its been 6 whole years since I blogged about Dr. Carter! And to this date, he is still awesome. He is still slow in his business practice and the long waits have not changed! He is very close to retiring though.I have to get a revision since I am having problems with my weight, again! So, of course I will not allow noone to do it but Dr. Paul Carter. He also think he knows that I had started overeating a little bit. Thats why he diagnosed me with a hiatal hernia by endoscopy. So since he has aged, I hope he is still driven and alert with the revision surgery. I know he is not perfect, but I trust him better than any other doctor.
My first impression of Dr. Carter was that he was very stern and to the point. But, I quickly learned that he was very caring and understanding. His office staff is very friendly and especially his wife. He emhasized aftercare like as if it would be the end of the world if you didnt follow instructions and take good care of yourself. He also explain the risk of complicaiotns with much clarity. I have not had my surgery yet, but I do believe that through God's wisdom and knowledge Dr. Carter will take good care of me during and after the surgery. I will recommend him to anyone who needs wls.
P.S. Dr. Carter has a good bed side manner. He makes sure that you know what you are up against before you get into a situation.

Dr. Paul Carter was recommended by people I knew in my town. First I spoke with a hairdresser who had done an extensive search on physicians who performed gastric bypass laproscopically. She then gave me numbers of several others who went to see Dr. Carter after she spoke with them. His office is 140 miles from where I live, but after I went to the first meeting to find out more about this type of surgery, I felt very comfortable. Dr. Carter is extremely friendly and straightforward. He's also super busy and it's normal to have to wait a bit to get into a appointment. He starts his office appointments after 3pm and I've always seen him in his scrubs, so I'm sure he comes directly from the hospital. He's very patient and answers all questions, no matter how much detail you need. I was impressed with his experience and his enthusiasm. His office staff isn't the best, sorry to say. Sheila, I think the office manager is the nicest and doesn't mind you calling asking all sorts of questions. I learned quickly to ask for her directly and if she's not in the office, you may need to call back because she didn't always seem to get her messages. Dr. Carter has a support group that meets monthly, you can attend if you are considering surgery or go there for support during all aspects, pre or post op. He went through the entire surgical process step by step, I had the Roux-en surgery. Sheila provided me with very details instrucgions on what I needed to do before my surgery date, i.e., having only protein shakes for two weeks prior to the surgery, to shrink the liver and make the surgery a little easier. He made no small talk that I HAD to quit smoking or else I should expect problems post op and relayed a story about a patient who refused to quit and he had to reverse her bypass. I think Dr. Carter was a great choice and I've been happy with my surgical results. I had no pain post op and this was the first surgery I've ever had. I was up and walking around several hours after surgery. I felt sore around the areas where the tools were inserted, but was really surprised that there was no pain. I was more uncomfortable post op because of the JP Drain, catheter, IV, etc. I was ready to go home the next day, but had to do the \"leak test\", drinking a thick liquid to check for leakage, which I passed with flying colors. I'd rate him on the highest scale for surgical competence and bedside manner. Oh, his wife is in his office quite often and is so very helpful and friendly also.

Actually, Dr. Ejeh from Dr. Carter's office will be my surgeon for lapband...insurance pending.rnrnI just wanted to share my positive experiences with Dr. Carter's office. I had no wait to meet Dr. Ejeh, for my first visit with her. I had heard good things about her through the grapevine and she lived up to it all. rnrnI also dropped by Dr. Carter's office without an appointment to drop off all of my insurance paperwork. Someone in the office compiled all my paperwork at that time and had it ready to fax to insurance in 15min.rnrnI have called the office several times and have always had my questions answered quickly and professionally. rnrnA BIG THANKS to Dr. Paul Carter's Office Staff for making me feel very welcome and cared for. I am ready for the next step with Blue Cross' approval.rnrnPamela CarlsonrnFayetteville, NC

Dr carter is alright as a dr, as far as the gastric surgery is concerned. It is his office staff that is incompetant. They are rude and un orgainzed. I am two years out from my surgery, and in June of this year have been expierencing horrible stomache pain. I went back to DR C to find out what is wrong with me, after Two scopes down the throat, CT scan, small intestinial seris xrays. Nothing found. FInally, I called Dr chung whom referred me to Villiage Surgical, Dr Davidson, did one test, Ultrasound and within a week found out it was gull stones and removed my gull bladder. However it took from June 22 to August 15th for Dr to do anything except put me on pain meds to cover the pain! How unprofessional. And when asking for my medical records, which according to the State Medical board, is our right to have, refused to give me copies to give to Dr. Davidson. Also the wait to see Dr Carter is un real. I had a 330 appointment and it was 530, the office was packed full of patients with the same appointment time. ONe lady asked shiela when Dr C was going to be available, her comment was he wasnt there, and had no idea when he was going to show up! The entire office waiting room left. Dont waste our time. We schedule appointments for a reason, the least the office staff could have done was offered new appointments or informed their paitients of the delay. SO unprofessional. I will NEVER go back to DR C again or his office. IT is a Ghetto atmosphere and unprofessional setting.
