Dr. Mirande is a very competant and compassionate doctor. My initial interview with him was about one month before my surgery date. My sister & mother, both nurses in Klamath Falls, highly recommended him. He is very knowledgable about nutrician, which was really important to me. He met with my husband and I and addressed all of our concerns. I thought my follow up care with him went without a hitch, and, since I live about 2 1/2 hours from KFalls, it is important to me that he have more than 10 minutes to spend with me when I go in for a check up. I have never felt rushed in his office and feel like all of my questions/concernes are addressed to my satisfaction. His office staff is very cordial and easy to work with.
I would highly recommend him (and have). He has an excellent bedside manner and truly seems to care about addressing not only the surgery issues, but the underlying issues that may cause a person to be obese.

I first met Dr. Mirande when I attended an obesity seminar in Redding, Ca in September 2001. My mom was concerned about me having the surgery so she attended with me. We both were quite impressed with his compassion with obese people and his willingness to answer any and all questions. He never acted like anyone had a dumb question and didn't seem in a rush to leave. By the time we left the seminar I was ready to schedule the surgery and my mom was much more confident that it was a good decision for me. When I went to his office for a consultation I was even more ready to put my trust and faith in him. He wasn't afraid to answer any question even if the answer wasn't a positive one. He took extra time to spell out all of the risks so that I could make an informed decision. I have also had a good experience with his office staff. Mary is a great lady who does her best to get answers for me as quick as she can. She has shown a lot of patience when I wasn't so patient waiting for insurance to approve and scheduling a surgery date.
On the day of the surgery, he came in to talk with me (and brought me a teddy bear) and his confidence in himself and the procedure made me even more confident in my decision. His bedside manner in the hospital was one of patience and concern as well. He never made me feel that he was rushed. He took the time to chat with me like a friend would, not just a doctor with many other patients to get to. Dr. Mirande has really stressed aftercare and nutrition. He has stated more than a few times that it is up to me to make this thing work but that he is there for me whenever I need him. Overall, I would rate my care from Dr. Mirande as excellent. His surgical competence and bedside manner have been all that I could ask for. I would recommend him to anyone. I just read the statement about 100% positive reviews being suspect so here's my negative comment. His office hasn't been redecorated since the 1970's and it shows! Hey Doc, get rid of that avacado green wallpaper and counter tops!

At first I wasn't too sure.. The office staff seemed to be kinda of confused and I couldn't always get the same answer twice. But as I got further along in the process they were very helpful. Mary is very knowledgable.

Dr Mirande seems to truly care about you. He has a wonderful bedside manner and even hugged me as I was being discharged. It made me feel cared for. Which is real important for a person my size who had little or no self esteem.

The follow up care seems to be very comprehensive and Dr Mirande seems to have a good relationship with all his bariatic patients. I have been nothing but pleased with the amount and type of care I have received.

Dr Mirande is very knowledgable about nutritional requirements. He is very honest with the risks involved. So much so I almost reconsidered. But it was refreshing to be informed. Not many doctors take the time to talk to you these days.

Dr. Mirande is extremely caring about his patients. He is very up front with the risks involved. The seminars he holds are really helpful. He takes a lot of time to explain anything and everything you might question. I have been in touch with many of his patients and he is really admired. His program has a good aftercare element. He wants everyone to be informed, by attending a seminar and support group meetings prior to the surgery. I've been amazed at the number of people who have traveled great distances from several states to have the surgery done here. He is respected in the community as an outstanding surgeon. His personality is very comfortable and warm.

Dr. Mirande has been a positive influence from the beginning. I first spoke wiht hime re: bariatric surgery over a year and half ago. The time between now and then was spent fighting the insurance co. (BC/BS Regency) for approval which they denied. Dr. Mirande helped me fight them and although we were unsuccessful, I still appreciate his effort.
My surgery was on Sept. 10th, 2001 and from the beginning, Dr. Mirande has been very attentive and will listen and talk to you about anything. Never once have i had the impression that I was impossing or , "just another patient". Every thing that was going to happen to me was explained clearly ase well ase explaining the possible risks. Any questions I had were addressed clearly and he seemed sincerely intent on making sure that I had all the information i could possible have before making my final decision.
The staff at his office are also very helpful and accomidating. I can't think of anything bad to say about any of them.
Ase far ase aftercare programs, this is the only area that I would like to see some improvements. The support group meetings are on wednesdat evenings and that is not a time that I can go since I work swing shift. I would just like to see some meeting times set up to accomodate more than the nine to five crowd even if it were just one saturday or sunday a month. I was even willing to drive to Medford once a month but thye don't have any weekend meetings either. I did get an e-mail from Barbara Miller in Medford, OR which is how I got this website.
I hope my info has been helpful and if there are any more questons, please feel free to contact me. ~:o)

Dr. Mirande is a very likable man....He is direct, open and complete in explaing the procedure and how it has evolved......I am impressed with his knowledge and extremely comfortable with him. The office staff are remarkable........they made me feel at ease and comfortable also....Dr. Mirande does stress aftercare and nutrition extensively, and was so complete in all of the possible risks assocoated with the surgery it definitely made me reconsider the surgery but he also assured me that he and his staff are able to handle any emergency that may arise. I am looking forward to my surgery and feel Dr. Mirande is a very competent surgeon and his bedside manner make for a winning combination.

I met Dr Mirande at a seminar he had given in Klamath Falls last winter. I find him very professional, personable and caring. The office staff is helpful, and Dr Mirande puts a strong emphasis on nutrition which I really like.

Dr. Mirande is a "people person." He is compassionate and sympathetic to obese people. He never once made me feel "helplessly fat" during any of our pre-op visits. He explains thoroughly the surgery and the risks of surgery.

I was one of his "early" patients and his office was just getting into the organizational phase, so I did not have the advantage of a dietition. All aspects of the aftercare were covered by Dr. Mirande.

I was recently invited to attend a local seminar given by Dr. Mirande as a "show and tell" guest, along with all other post-op patients (3 of us showed up). His eyes light up whenever he smiles his approval of how we are doing.

He believes in what he is doing. He is a very capable laproscopic surgeon.
