Richard Carter Bariatric Surgeon DO, FACOS

Dr. Carter, and his team were there for me during this life changing process! From the beginning, and until the end I understood that I was in good hands. Now, that I am in the post op phase I can tell that he took care of me. I have been free from pain, able to go home, manage 2 toddlers, and still be in line with my post op requirements!!!! Exciting new journey for me! Would recommend him any day!!!

Absolutely HORRIBLE. I had surgery back in May. All the weight I have lost so far has been a result of me starving myself (eating less than 1200 calories a day) and working out. The band has done NOTHING. He only gives you a .5cc fill each time you come in. I am at month 7 and I can basically eat and drink like I did prior to the surgery. I am consuming less calories than I did before I had the surgery just because I've changed what I eat. All this man is doing is billing my insurance company each month. The fills are PAINFUL, because he has to poke and prod to find your port and this month when I came in, he actually began talking aggressively, rude, and inconsiderately towards me, because I have put on 6 pounds in the last three months. Dude, I have a muscular build and when I typically work out and out on muscle, I gain weight. Did he ask me that? Hell no! Just went on talking about my not counting calories, etc. I am amazed that a professional when even talk to another adult like he spoke to me, considering this was an elective surgery. I didn't even get the fill. I got my fine self up, cursed him out, asked for them to send me my medical records, and politely asked for the address of the state medical board to file a complaint. This guy does not understand or sympathize with those who struggle with their weight, as clearly he never has. He needs to be shut down, QUICKLY. Wack job!

I love Dr. Carter. He is so personable and really cares about your needs and goals. The office staff is the same way. They answer all the questions that I have. Aftercare is very important to him. There is a support group at his office once a month. Dr. Carter answered all my question about the risks before I had surgery and explained everything that was going to happen during and after surgery.

Attended Dr. Carter's seminar last night - 10/25/06. I had already researched his surgical competence so it was a plus to find him entertaining and friendly. Becky was with him and she knows the answer to everything regarding insurance. I loved talking to her because she is so real and has a great sense of humor about her own band.rnrnDr. Carter is strict about aftercare. The emphasis on committing to a lifestyle change is probably his number one priority, although he was very thorough explaining the surgery and risks.rnrnAfter meeting Dr. Carter, I have no doubts about having this surgery. My insurance will change to UHC on January 1st so I'm patiently waiting until then. rnrn
