Dr Richard Carter is a very polite, very humorous guy. He made me feel extremely comfortable. He made sure to give me all the information about what I was going to embark on up front, and showed me a video of the entire proceedure that was going to happen to me. It was not pretty, but I felt more comfortable knowing that the proceedure was so planned and precise. I only grew to trust Dr. Carter more over time.
His staff are all extremely kind and accomidating. They all make me feel welcome and I laugh everytime I go in the office for my fills.
I didn't like that on my firt fill that I had to get stuck 3 times because he couldn't find the port, but on my second fill he got it the first time.
Dr Carter suggests that all his patients start the South Beach Diet for diet after the surgery. He explained what it entailed and where to get the book that would help on the diet. He told me everything I needed to do about the incisions and how to eat for the first several days following my surgery. Paige, his patient consultant called me to check on me frequently to make sure I was ok and to answer any of my questions.
He explained to me all the risks involved and they are so minimal compared to Gastric By Pass I was very comfortable with it.

I would rate Dr Richard Carter and his staff with an A+.
His surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful.

I first met him in Nov.6, referred to by a co-worker who he did her lap band in October. He said, he has done over a hundred surgeries. The paper work process was a little slow, but I have a date for Surgery March 3.

Very impressed with Dr Carter when I met him at his seminar - His entire staff attended and one of the first things he said was the seminar would last until no one had anymore questions - he told us that if we did not want to ask our questions out loud then to pick who we wanted to talke w/and just walk right up to them and ask in person - two of his staff members are banded and he had 2 patients that attended the meeting I was at - EVERYONE was more than willing to answer ANY question we came up with regarding their personal experience or general info - I left there feeling very informed and feeling very blessed to have picked his name from a list of surgeons to consider - I am now in the process of gathering all the stuff my ins company wants so that his office can file my claim and get this show on the road!

My honest 1st opinion was that he was handsome. He was very professional and caring. He answered all questions (and even answered the questions of my 6 year old son)My opinion and respect has increased since my surgery on 9/15 (especially since I lived). His staff is very down to earth and willing to answer any question. I have nothing negative to say about my experience with Dr. Carter nor his staff. He even has a patient care coordinator (Paige) who has had the surgery, so she knows every ache and pain that you feel post op. She makes a call to you both before and after your surgery. While in the hospital (Med Ctr of Arlington) I was visited by the dietician and given advice of the various foods and vitamins needed. Dr Carter is great!!! No complants here!

I really liked Dr. Carter, he gave me a big pat on the back when I came in and a huge smile! MADE ME FEEL WELCOME! He even came to the door to get me. He answered all my questions and helped me feel better about some things I was scared about. He actually listened to me as I explained why this was so important to me because of my daughter but that I was afriad for something to happen during the surgery that would defeat the purpose. He was very caring and considerate of my feelings and talked to me at length about all my fears, hopes, etc. His office staff is friendly basically its just Becky she is his "go to gal" She is very friendly but has lots of work! But Ive never caught her in a bad mood. There is nothing that I didn't like about him. He has a orientation meeting and he sends home information for you to read! OVERALL I WOULD SAY HES A++++. Ill post something new about him after my surgery JULY 14th <-- after he makes me hurt for a while I might change my mind :)

I felt Dr. Carter was very professional from the moment I met him. He has a good sense of humor which put me at ease. I really appreciated the fact that he did not rush me, he went through the procedure and answered every single question that I asked and didn't make me feel "stupid", even though I am sure he has heard the same questions over and over......His staff is wonderful. It basically consists of Becky and that is it. She is amazing for doing all the work that she does. So far I haven't disliked anything about him or his staff. Aftercare is just important, if not more so than the surgery itself. Dr. Carter discussed everything necessary about the surgery, including the risks. I give him an A+++ for his presentation of himself and his work.

I love Dr Carter. My first impression was he is a very very personable man with wonderful bedside manner. You often don't find that in todays times. He has a small office staff who is very nice and helpful. Becky is his right hand, but it appears she is probably way overworked. I found I had to stay on her to make sure my information was processed. She means well and does do her job, but is very busy. So the squeeky wheel gets the grease - remember that. I'm only 8 days post op, but the aftercare has been good for me. Dr. Carter has an assistant that called me at home one week post op at night to follow up with any unanswered questions and to make sure I didn't need to see him sooner. Dr. Carter does not require a special liquid diet before the surgery (lapband) and his after surgery diet is very tolerable and comperable to other doctors. Dr. Carter is very well respected in the community and I would say both his surgical competence and bedside manner are both AWESOME. I'm very pleased.

Dr. Carter is very direct and to the point. He did not waste my time and gave me the most important info. My visit was short, but thorough. Since I already knew quite a lot about the lapband and had all of my paperwork in order, it only took two days from the time that I visited him until I got approval from my insurance company.

I had my initial visit with Dr. Richard Carter on 03/19/03 and I was impressed. He was very nice and he explained the procedure that he does (LapBand) very thoroughly.

His staff seemed very nice.

He just started doing this procedure in August 2002. Now, before I met him that made me uneasy. But I think you have to realize at one time the docotrs that we consider NOW to be HIGHLY experienced had only a small number of procedures under their belt. Everyone has to start somewhere.

He explained the pros & cons.

Overall I feel good about this whole situation and about Dr. Carter as the surgeon who will do this procedure for me.
