My first impression of Dr. Liem was positive, I liked his concern and the fact that he took his time to answer all my questtions and didn't rush me.Although of small stature himself, I felt his honest understanding of my feelings about my weight.
Maria and Elizabeth, his office staff were very supportive and helpful.I feel the only area that could use help is the after care. I was very unsure of what I shouldd be eating, how much etc. There needs to be more wrritten info. to follow.

I got a call from Dr. Liem's office today looks like I'll be having wls in January... Less than 8 weeks from my first telephone call to his office!!! Isn't that great!!

I called Dr. Liem's office mid week and was scheduled for a consultation the following Monday. I had learned a lot about wls before hand so I felt pretty well informed going in. My time spent with the Doctor and Maria was great. The surgery was explained and I looked at before/after photos. I have made two phone calls to the office and my questions were answered right then. My husband and I attended the information session at JFK on 11/12/01 and it was great!! He gave a slide presentation and had a question & answer session. He also had post-op patients on hand that answered questions and LOOKED WONDERFUL!! I do have to say that I was not given much written information at this point but was told I would receive post-op diet guidlines etc. when the pre-op testing is started. So far I feel VERY comfortable with Dr. Leim and his staff and my hubby thinks he's 'ok' too! :)

Having been employed at the hospital where I had my surgery done for 20 years, I have known Dr. Liem for quite some time. It was not until I had decided to have the surgery and spoke to him for the first time about it that I realized what a great person he is. He genuinely cares about each individual patient. His office staff, as busy as they are, also care very much and know each postop patient by name. As far as the aftercare goes, Dr. Liem hosts a monthly meeting for anyone interested in having the surgery and stays to answer any and all questions from the audience. Afterwards, a support group is held for all of his postop patients. He is a very competent surgeon and has a great bedside manner also. I would highly recommend him to anyone that is considering this surgery.

Dr Liem seem like a very nice Dr. He was very proud of all the his past patients and took the time to show them to me personally

His office staff was thorough, after doing all the research they asked me all the right questions and were willing to take on the insurance company on my behalf

A word of caution though his office is really really busy. I came late to my appointment and I had to stand for approximately 15 min until another patient was called in.

He does have a structured pre care but does not seem too involved in aftercare. Well at this time I don’t know since I just meet him 1x on November 27th.

One thing for sure he will answer all the questions you have. So go ahead and asked and he will not rush you.

I felt very comfortable with Dr. Leim and his office staff. They answered all my questions and made themself available to me whenever I called the office. After surgery I feel the same, I've called numerous times with even the littlest question (I was very paranoid in the first couple of weeks) and the staff was very understanding and helpful no matter how small the question.
Dr. Leim requires you to attend atleast one meeting where he goes over the whole process of the surgery and he has many of his patients there to describe their individual recovery processes. After surgery he hosts a support group once a month where patients can vent and get the peer support they need.
Dr. Leim's aftercare not only consists of food but he is very interested in vitamin supplements and anti-aging.

I would strongly recommend Dr. Leim to anyone considering surgery in my area.

I first met Dr.Liem at his open montly meeting. I was impressed with the information presented there. Afterwards I had an opportuntity to talk to him and ask additional questions. It was very nice that he was accessible. He answered all of my questions and I was happy to learn that he has never had a mortality. That said alot to me. He has been specialized in the area of bariatric surgery for many years... I believe back to the early 80's. He said he did not do laproscopic and his reasoning was very sound. I like the fact that he does additional sutures over the staple lines to prevent leakages. All in all I got the feeling that I was dealing with a Doctor who was highly competent and highly experienced. He seemed caring and compassionate. I liked his staff, Elizabeth and Maria. Maria was also very knowledgable and informative. I should be having surgery in the first part of December. I feel that I will be in good hands...I will update this as time goes on..

I can't say enough about Dr. Liem and his staff Marie, Elizabeth and everyone else in the office. My first visit went very well. Marie explained everything in detail. I like Dr. Liem right away, he is very friendly, a bit shy (but that only shows that he is caring). After we talked with marie, Dr. Liem came in and talked with us, showed us some before and after pictures and answered any questions that we had. Elizabeth was great with the insurance paperwork. I feel very comfortable with everyone. I know I'm in great hands.

Upon meeting him he struck me as highly competent in his field as well as being very caring. His office staff has been extremly helpful, especially since I live 150 miles away.

Dr. Liem is the best - liked him immediately. I have talked with his office staff various times and although they are often times overly busy - they always did get back to me with answers. Dr. Liem was very good during surgery, spent time with my husband after to let him know how I made out and saw me each day I was in the hospital. My first office visit with him after surgery was an informative one - he is wonderful and I highly recommend him. He and his staff really stress the fact of having enough protein in your diet, vitamins needed, exercise and attending support group meetings.

The surgeon is honest straight foward and
answers all questions.

I feel a Doctor should have both the surgical
competence and a good bedside manner and
still be honest and straight forward with
there pateints.
