I met with Dr. Spier on oct. 18, 2000. I am very impressed with him and his staff. I have felt guilty for so long about my weight and inability to lose it and keep it off that I have very low self- esteem. He has given me the faith that I needed to know that this will work and that I should not feel guilty.His sense of humor put me at ease and helped eleviate some of my concerns. I am waiting for my insurance with new hope.
Had my first consult with Dr. Spier on 08-11-2000. Dr. Spier was great. Felt very comfortable with him. He answered all my questions. Can't wait to attend the support group meeting they do also. My surgery date can't get here quick enough. Was referred to him by a family friend who works with him as an anesthesiologist. He said I shouldn't consider going to anyone but Spier's he a fabulous surgeon. Will update more later.
WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT DR. SPIER EXCEPT HE IS THE BEST! FIRST IMPRESSION WAS THAT HE IS VERY SERIOUS BUT AFTER GOING TO SUPPORT GROUPS, HE HAS A VERY COOL SENSE OF HUMOR AND VERY FUNNY! I WOULD REFER HIM (AND I HAVE) TO ANYONE CONSIDERING SURGERY!
My first impression was the same as my last which was I knew I was in the hands of the best doctor I could find. The office staff is excellent and always takes time to answer your questions when you call in.
New patients better get in quick or it will be a long wait.
His aftercare is 4 years and he always at his support meeting.
Every risk was dicussed during your consult.
Dr. Spir is a 100% in my book.

Dr Kaczmarski was everything I would expect a surgeon to be. The medical personnel in the office were Kind and informative.
I wish Dr. Kaczmarski could do the laparoscopy procedure though. I don't really care for having the big scar.
I'm waiting now for the insurance to approve the surgery.
Well, I had to switch Dr. because Dr. Kaczmarski was not in my medical network. So, I found Dr. Spier to do the surgery. He was very nice. I liked his sence of humor.
My first impression with my Dr. was that this is to good to be true! He has a great bed side manner.He explained the complet operation to me. He asked if I had any questions, and then he quized me on what I had researched. He explained all the risks and the percent of them happening to me.
He explain the follow up vists and gave me additonal info to read on the operation.
First Impression: Very abrupt, but highly skilled and a perfectionist. Not the best bed side manner. Over time, same impression, he is an excellent surgeon who cares about his patients. He is a little intimidating to talk with. His office staff was great. This thing I liked least was the abruptness and his bed side manner.
He normally emphasizes alot of office aftercare (monthly visits are covered in the cost of surgery for life(I guess). But I am from out of state, so I saw my normal PCP here and they faxed my information to the surgeon). He did not tell me much of what to expect later in the surgery as far as what to eat and how much.
He addressed most the risks, but not very much on what to expect later.
I would rate him as 8 out of 10.
His surgical competance was excellent, bedside manner was lacking. He is a great surgeon, who is highly respected in the Springfield Ohio area.
Dr. Spier is a wonderful surgen. He is very upfront about the risks and bennifits of Gastric bypass surgery. He is very thorough in his work. He is also very supportive about after care. He attends 2 support groups to answer med questions and concerns. His staff is attentive and friendly. No one in the office, Dr. Spier included, treats you like you are unhuman due to you weight issues. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone.
Dr. Spier is very personable. He answered all questions and explained the procedure until I understood. He and his staff
are wonderful and never once did I feel like i was being judged for being Fat.
I have gotten to know Dr. Spier much better, i would reccommend him to anyone!
the office staff is wonderful too. Dr. Spier is very thorough he askes if you have any questions and talks to you as a person not a number , he aslo has support groups for his patients, I will be joining that soon.
