My impression of Dr. Spier was that he is a first-rate surgeon that I can definitely trust to do my surgery. I have spoken to others who have had him as their doctor, and I have heard nothing but praise about him.
His office staff is very helpful and friendly, especially Robyn, his assistant.
Dr. Spier stresses aftercare to all his patients and asks them to come to a monthly support group meeting. The meetings are an especially great way of getting support from peers and learning new things.
I will give a complete review after my surgery.

Dr.Spier is great. Some have said he has a off kind of sense of humor but I did not get this impression.I think he has a wonderful sense of humor,a very caring nature,a straight to the point person.I felt very comfortable with him.He put me right at ease right away.I attended my first support group meeting and it was great.Dr. Spier and Robin,a member of his staff and a surgery weight loss member, were there to talk and do a demo of the surgery. After the meeting Dr.Spier and Robin talked to people individually who were considering.I don't think too many doctors or staff would devote that much time as a rule.I very highly recommend Dr.Spier.

My first impression of Dr. Spier was great. I found him very informative. He answered all my questions. My surgery is scheduled for November 1, 2001. The office staff have been very helpful. I had heard the office staff was not the friendlyist, but that isn't how they were with me. Dr. Spier was very direct about after care and follow up appts. So far he deserves an A.

I have several friends who went to Dr Spier to do their surgery and I have only heard good about him. I felt very comfortable around him and talking with him about the reasons I needed the surgery. He did not make me feel that I was any less of a person because of my weight, he was very sincere and imformative about the operation as well as the importance of aftercare.
I called in on Friday 8/3 and was told there was a one year waiting list, they told me they would work me in if possible I was called on Wed 8/8 for an appt and already am scheduled for surgery in Sept. The only thing that bothered me was the insurance lady (Jan), I thought she seemed very short with me and didn't want to take time to answer my questions. I do however, feel that she is tops at what she does she handled everything for me and I was approved only 8 days after my consult overall I would rate Dr Spier at about 8 and the office staff at a 7.

Dr. Spier was geniunely concerned about my health and my desire to become healthier. He has a great sense of humor and was very receptive to my sense of humor. I like that in a doctor. His staff was most excellent and helpful and so nice. They were very concerned about the directions they gave to the office, they didn't want me getting lost.
I'm not sure about his bedside manner yet but I really do like him. He seems to be very educated but human too. He seemed to understand that I had not taken this decision lightly and had studied all the aspects of the surgery. I think he was relieved that I had taken the time to know all about the special diet afterward, the possible pain and side effects, and all the other important issues that come with a major surgery like this.
After having the surgery, Dr. Spier was concerned with my health overall but he was more human than doctor which made me feel so much better. He didn't try to confuse me or impress me nor did he make me feel like an idiot. He treated me like a human.

My first impression of Dr. Spier was at a Support Group meeting and he was very informative with a dry sense of humor. I was impressed that he took time out of his schedule to educate us about this surgery. When I went for my consultation in March, he drew a picture of a stomach and intestines and described the way he did the surgery. He's a good artist too! He explained risks of surgery and aftercare and also offered encouragement. He asked me as many questions as I asked him, which to me means that he has compassion for his patients. I'll be glad to rate him overall after my surgery!
