Russell Gornichec Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Dr. Gornichec is a very caring, thorough, professional surgeon. He requires you to attend a seminar which is extremely informative. He fully addressed the risks of surgery and aftercare. He is very kind with his approach but also very straight-forward (he told me I had to quit smoking or he wouldn't do the surgery, I believed him and quit!). I would rate him a 10+ overall and would highly recommend him to anyone considering lapband, which is the weight loss procedure I had done. I would say his bedside manner and surgical competence are of equal comparision, he is very compassionate but also very sure of his ability to do the procedure successfully, which is what I needed to gain confidence in the surgeon I chose. His staff is wonderful as well, although I would say they are short-staffed at this point. It took a few days to return phone calls, so I found it was easier to stop by his office in person.

My first impression of Dr. Gornichec was that he is really attentive. Seems like he really cares about his patients and he is very strict on whom he will or will not perform the surgery on. You have to have a concrete reason for either the lap band or the roux-en-y. I really can't say that I have found anything about him that I dislike. He has very strict rules about aftercare and your support system. In fact, he wants to meet at least one person in your support system within the first couple of appointments. He might not even go through with your appointment if he can't meet someone.

Although Dr. Gornichec didn't tell me what I wanted to hear during my consult with him, he told me what I needed to hear, which was my bariatric surgery of choice (RNY) was exceedingly risky with my previous health diagnosis.rnrnFor that reason alone, I knew that Dr. Gornichec had my best interest at heart. And now that my pre-op testing has shown other 'potential' problems, I continue to respect how thorough he is in making sure my body can withstand the LapBand.rnrnI do have a tendency to be a bit abrasive, so when I met Dr. Gornichec, I was shocked by his ability to handle my firm (and difficult) personality. However, this definitely impressed my husband, as he liked that Dr. Gornichec wouldn't be bullied into letting me have \"my way\". He wanted me to be safe.rnrnI have a lot of respect for this doctor, and look forward to the potentially life-altering surgery he's going to perform on me. I have nothing bad to say about my surgeon. I have been truly pleased with him thus far.

Dr Gornichec is a very nice looking surgeon besides being very knowledgable about weight loss surgery. He has a very strict program. You must attend a seminar...free of charge...that has very good information about what the expectations are. The office mgr, Dr., office staff, nutritionist, and support group leaders all come and talk about the different aspects of WLS. Dr Gornichec discusses the pros and cons of both types of WLS (band and RNY). rnThe office staff are so supportive and friendly!!rnHe tells it like it is..which I feel is very important to be an informed consumer!rnThe aftercare is very specific with required attendance at support group. Nutritional program for dietary support. rnI am not yet schedules for surgery so I will keep you all posted

Dr. Gornichec was very personable, his staff was the same. He has has every test done on my from head to toe, and that makes me so confident that my body is ready for the surgery. My impression has only gotten better and more confident. There is nothing that I don't like about the Dr. and staff. They took all my calls, listen to my questions and never let me think I was just a person having surgery. I am important and make it known to me! He does make sure that I know what to expect, before and after surgery.

Dr. G is simply the best surgeon around. I didn't actually go to him for the weight loss surgery I had a abcess on my back the size of a babies head directly on my spine. I was turned down by 3 other surgeons. He took me on with no hesitation. The surgery was a success and I feel like a new me. He was kind and caring and didn't rush me with my questions or concerns. If I were to have the weight loss surgery he is the only one I would allow to do it. Thanks Dr. G for being who you are which is totally awesome!!!!

I choose Dr. Gornichec because I already respected him professionally as I worked at a hospital where he practiced. I have assisted in caring for his patients and he was always very through and caring. I appreciated his approach to bariatric surgery and his no nonsense approach. I wasn't completely sold on the idea of bariatric surgery until I attended a seminar conducted by Dr. Gornichec and his staff. He provided an amazing amount of information and was very straightforward about his expectations rnThe office staff are wonderful!!! From the time you check in, until you check out, each staff member is pleasant to deal with. When I call or e-mail someone in the office, I get a quick response, delivered with a great attitude. rnThe things I appreciate most about OK Bariatrics is the work up required, the support group and the aftercare program.rnI would happily refer other patients to Dr Gornichec. And as a nurse, I am very careful about who I recommend to people.

Dr. G comes with fabulous credentials, and he's a hottie. That just about summed it up for me! Easy choice!

I liked Dr Gornichec very much because he is very paticular about following his directions and if you dont he will and has cancelled surgery.That tells me he wants the best outcome for all his patients and wont settle for less.Dr Gornichec is a very nice man and Im very pleased with my outcome.

This surgeon is \"the surgeon\" to choose if you want to have a doctor that takes the time to listen to your history, concerns, and future expectations. He is intelligent and confident in his abilities and gives your realistic expectations from surgery. He takes the time to work with not only you, but your entire family and support system. He is also great at returning any calls after surgery to answer concerns you may have even if they are not major. He really is a caring person that has helped me gain my life back.
