Dr. Marshall was very nice and answered all the questions I had. His staff is very helpful. Dr. Marshall warned me of the complications possible and that the surgery would not all of a sudden solve my weight problem. He warned me that it will take a lot of hard work on my part to accomplish my goals. He thinks I am a cadidate for laparoscopic surgery. Before any surgury is scheduled he told me that I would have to meet with a dietician, attend an educational class, attend a support group, and have a pshycological evaluation. I have attended all of these sessions and my primary insurance has approved the surgery as medically necessary. These are my own personal impressions and experiences and I am making no statements about what other people may experience.

8/27/01 - Surgery is over. Dr. Marshall has been very good. Both Dr. Marshall and the doctor who assisted him came to see me in the hospital on rounds.

So far, he seems very informed. Our consult was quick, but he pushed for the whole process to get done ASAP due to my insurance situation.
Janet was helpful, but the attending nurse (?) was impersonal, and the Resident MD laughed at me because I want to have RNY. Not very professional, but I don't think this is reflective of Dr. Marshall's view.

He is an excellent surgeon. His office staff is top-notch.
I especially enjoyed working with Matt, who is the most
competent person I have had the privilege of working with.

Dr. Marshall was on-call the day of my surgery. It was
scheduled for 9 a.m., which meant I needed to be at the
hospital by 7 a.m. He had 3 emergency surgeries and it
was 5 pm before he got to me. What a long day!

He has a very structured after care plan and hospital
staff are at your bedside daily to help with questions and
to provide written information.

Dr. Marshall has a great bedside manner. He did try to
be funny though when I really wasn't feeling like laughing.
He has very competent senior residents that take good
care of you also. They visited twice daily.

I was very pleased with the quality of care I received.

My first impression is he is very busy but very good at what he does. He believes in it!
His office is friendly as is the staff, in fact so are the patients I met there, I chatted with several woman.
So far there is nothing I dislike about him, however I will say that I have only seen him once!
He was sure to make sure I had the support of my local family and he was careful to make sure I understood what would be happening inside my body and out.
Very structured aftercare, I felt like I was being interviewed to see if he would allow me to have the surgery, not as if I would allow him to perform it (but in a good way).
He addressed the risks as as minimal as any other surgery, he was quick to point out the risk factors in my family history if I were to continue carrying so much extra!
So far I would rate him well from what I have heard he is a very good surgeon (since I've not had mine yet), and as for bedside manner that seems fine so far too. Time will tell in the next few weeks!
Since the surgery, I would still rate Dr. Marshall highly, he is kind but still very quick to get in and out.

Dr. Stephen Marshall is a quiet man who will answer any questions that you have. His staff is excellent, but busy. There is an aftercare program that is awesome. I always felt that I was in great hands with the whole process.

I am 6 mos. out now, and my surgeon, Dr. Marshall and St. Francis Hospital have hired a coordinator for the gastric bypass surgery. I think that this whole group has continued to improve their program over the last few months. The coordinator that has been hired is great and has been involved
in the program from the beginning. I am thrilled that the Peoria, IL area has such a comittment to obese people. This just amazes me.

Dr. Marshall went to the Bariatric convention and took lots of others in the office.

I'd rate Stephen Marshall as a 10.

Dr Marshall is a nice man. He gets to the point and tells you like it is. He has been the driving force in Peoria for this Surgery. He's been to some Conferences on this just lately and is really PUMPED UP! He gave me alot of time...but there are alot of things i forgot to ask...i'm looking forward to seeing him again.

Dr. Marshall answers all the questions asked of him. He seems to have a pleasant personality. I have personally spoke with about 10 women who have had WLS by him and feel he is very competent. He is performing lapriscopic WLS on me.

My surgeon is an associate of Dr. Debord's. His name is Steve Marshall.
Dr. Marshall was very patient with me during my first visit.
He answered all my questions and worked with me about my pre-op needs because I lived so far from his office. I was allowed to have my work-up done in my home town and everything sent to him.
6 months later I don't feel as though Dr. Marshall has enough time when I travel up to see him. He always makes me feel rushed with my questions.
His office staff is great. Very helpful and friendly.
Dr. Marshall follows the University of Iowa's plan of care regarding diet and after care. On my first visit I was given several booklets to read. One being the post op diet book.
