My first impression was a bit biased due to a great referral by two family members. But let me say now without hesitation that they were completely right; Dr. Jay is indeed as good as they come. Very personable though soft-spoken. He answers all your questions and exudes a quiet confidence that affects you on your very first visit. Now that my surgery has come and gone (it happened 6 days ago!) I feel the same about him just stronger. I haven't yet spent much time with his office staff but the one or two phone calls with them have been impeccable. So far there is absolutely nothing I do not like about Dr. Jay. I can think of nothing negative to say so far. Future patients should know that when using Dr. Jay they will find that his whole package if you will, from dealing with the Neweigh folks in Houston in whom he affiliated, the First Street Hospital folks where he performs the surgeries, and again his office staff probably can't be beat. I ain't ever seen such a thing like it from top to bottom. Again, I do not have a lot of post op input yet but so far the aftercare push has been as important a piece of the total program that Dr. Jay is affiliated with as the surgery itself. The risk of surgery is very thoroughly addressed and I did not feel pressured in any way to choose the gastric by-pass. If we are rating 1-10 I have to give a 10 and I hardly ever give 10's on anything this important. Bedside manner is as important to me as the next guy I guess and Dr. Jay's is impeccable but less face it, this guy is very good at what he does while you’re under the knife and that’s so far the part I rate the highest about Dr. Jay. rnI'm sorry if nothing negative is uninformative, suspect and all that but I'm telling you I ain't never seen something go this good in every single facet. Give me some time and I promise I will honestly make any updates, negative or positive. I just know that today is Saturday and I had surgery on Monday. Not a drop of pain meds after Wednesday and I went shopping with my wife at IKEA tonight. I have experienced not one minute of nausea from post-op to the writing of this profile. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ supplying all my need according to His riches in glory just like He said He would. In this partiicular instance it comes wrapped in a dude affectionately known as Dr. Jay! rn

Dr Jayakumar is very quiet and soft spoken. He has the patience to answer any questions that you may have, but does not offer up much in the way of suggestions or expectations.rnrnHis office staff has been nice and friendly. rnMy first after surgery appointment went well and I am healing nicely.rnrnDr Jayakumar emphasizes that the sucess is very much dependent on excercise and attending a support group or organization in addtion to regular follow up visits to his office.rnrnHis surgical competence is extremely high and his quiet bedside manner is soothing. He ensures that you are informed and can make and educated decision based on the risks and your situation.

Dr. Jay that eveyone calls him was very direct and very informative. rnMy impression never changed over time.rn His office staff is very concerned about you and your health before and exspecially after. There is nothing I liked least about him...He is an idealed doctor for surgery and i would definetly recommend him to others he even gave me his emergency pager # if I was to have any questions or problems. rnHe emphasizes on after care so much to where you would think you had an illness that wouldn't be cured if you didnt follow up.rnYes. He has a structured after program.rnHe addressed the risks of surgery to the fullest the pros and the cons.rnIn a rating from 1-10..I would definetly give him a 10.rnBoth are great!!!

Dr. Jay is so cool and calm was willing to answer any questions that I may have had. I have been researching information concerning WLS for the past 3 years and there was not really many questions to ask; but just the same Dr. Jay was there for me. rnHe did discuss the procedures, risks, complications and waitied calmly to see if I have any further questions. He was the same on the day of the surgery and the day following the surgery. His overall attitude was very calming and relaxing to me. I was never worried or upset. The little sisters at Neweigh help me out so much!

Dr. Jay is wonderful! He is very professional and has a great bedside manner. He is always smiling, which made me feel very comfortable. He spends as much time as you need to answer any questions. After surgery, his office called me several times to see how I was doing. Neweigh is/was also wonderful, and everyone there is so very helpful. Many who work there have also had the surgery. Both Dr. Jay and Neweigh thoroughly explained the risks as well as the benefits without scaring me to death with all of those horror stories you hear. They did let me know that I was also taking a huge risk with my life to remain as overweight as I was. Overall, I felt that I was well taken care of and in the right hands. I highly recommend Dr. Jay and Neweigh.

Dr. Jay is absolutely awesome. I have already recommended him to several people. He's knowledgable, he's got a great bedside manner, he compassionate and a great surgeon. Can't ask for more than that. My first impression of him was that he was very sincere about this procedure. He wanted me to know all the benefits and the risks. He spent almost 90 minutes with me just talking about everything. He always answered any questions and his staff and Neweigh staff called me several times after surgery to check on me. He is AWESOME!

'My first impression of Dr. J was that he was a soft spoken man but extremely knowledgable about the different surgies. I considered him to be very concerned about his patients. I think the little sisters at Neweigh are great. He's a huge advocate of the aftercare program. About 3 days after being released I called his office complaining of chest pains
