I was initially under Dr. Miranda's care, but he split away from NeWeigh. I was so far into the insurance process and NeWeigh was doing such a phenomenal job with my insurance company that I chose to stay with them and choose another surgeon. I went with Dr. Jayakumar and was totally pleased with my decision. The transition was smooth, he has perfect bedside manner and most of all this man comes highly recommended as one of the best in Texas!

When I first decided to have wls I was skeptical of all surgeons. However when I met Dr. Jay for the first time he seemed knowledgable of his profession. During the initial meeting, he spoke to a group of candidates about the surgery. Although I could tell he did this quite a bit, I didnt feel as if the people in the room were not important to Dr. Jay. He treated each of us with respect and answered everyone's questions, no matter how many they were and there were many!!! Dr. Jay spoke of the risk of wls, but he explained the risk is no greater than any risk of surgery. Of course there are different side affects, but the risk is virtually the same. Dr. Jay emphasized the times patients are needed to return to his office post-surgery. He seems like a great guy and surgeon. I would highly recommend anyone to at least visit with him....

I chose Neweigh and Dr. Jayakumar because I was refered to him by a number of my friends. The staff at Neweigh was great and very helpful. Dana was particularly nice and helpful. Dr. Jayakumar was great from the first moment I met him. I have not had my surgery yet but, Since I have started my appointments there and gotten my surgery scheduled Dr. Jay himself has called me 3 times about different concerns and questions that I have had. I like having a surgeon that is not too busy to talk to the patient directly. Dr. Jay is very soft spoken and very comforting. Newigh has a great aftercare program. This was one of my final deciding factors in choosing Neweigh. Dr. Jay really emphasizes utalizing their aftercare program. He has great statistics. I'm am very happy with my decision. I'll update more after my surgery on March 9th!!!!

My first impression of doctor Jay was he had a very nice personality. He explained the seriousness of Lap band surgery and what to expect as well as the procedure. The office staff are wonderful. After care at this facility is very important to the success of the surgery. I will give him a 10 in addressing the risks of surgery. His surgical competence, bedside manner are both great.

DR. J IS VERY KIND AND HAS GREAT BEDSIDE MANNERS. hIS OFFICE STAFF IS VERY HELPFUL AND KIND. mY SURGICAL PROCEDURE WAS GREAT. I WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL ON 9-9-05 AND LEFT ON 9-10-05. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PAIN OR PROBLEMS WITH THE SURGERY. mY ONLY PROBLEM IS AFTERCARE. I CALL DR. J WHO REFERS ME TO OTHER DOC BUT I FEEL LIKEI NEED TO SPEAK TO HIM. HE CALLS RIGHT BACK WHEN I CALL HIM AND TALKS TO ME ON THE PHONE. I JUST FEEL HE SHOULD WANT TO SEE THE PATIENT ALSO. I ALSO WENT TO HIS OFFICE FOR MY THREE WEEK CHECK UP AND THE STAFF HAD FAILED TO PUT MY LAB WORK IN MY FILE. i LATER CALLED TO HAVE THE LAB WORK SENT TO MY CARDIOLOGIST AND HE FOUND MY PITASSIUM LEVEL WAS LOW. DR J IS A GREAT DOCTOR. HE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING AND TRIES TO REASSURE YOU. THESE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS.

I did not know what to expect when I was about to meet Dr. Jay. I am a nurse, and have worked with many doctors, so I was open minded, but yet kind of nervous. I know how I like my doc to be.....
He was that and more. A very nice, and respectful man, and explained everything to me and my husband. I appreciate his straight forwardness. His staff is awesome. I cannot say enough about them and their professionalism. I was totally comfortable in his office except.... for the little gown... :) but at 42 and 3 kids later who cares about modesty.......
I did not know until today, (approx 2 weeks before my surgery) while bored and reading the info on the website, his training is awesome. Anyone in the medical field knows Dr. Denton Cooley, and I feel so fortunate to have Dr. Jay as my surgeon knowing he has trained under him.... I am impressed and I think a ton of weight has been lifed off of my shoulders today, (no pun intended) knowing I have this surgeon. I will continue to pray all goes well....
1 WEEK POST OP: DR. J. IS THE BEST....I FELT SO CONFIDENT. HE IS THE PERFECT GENTLEMAN AND SURGEON. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.....AND LIVE-LITE HOUSTON.

I've only met Dr. Jay once, but now that I've been approved, I'll be seeing hime some more. He is knowledgable, kind and easy to talk to. I worked him through neweigh in Houston. Neweigh has a very structured pre and post op program. As well, they are amazing at getting through the insurance red tape.
