Dr. Stelmak was great. I was an hour and 45 minutes late due to being lost and he still saw me and spent about 1 1/2 hours talking to me. He was very impressed with how much I already knew about him and the procedure(thanks www.obesityhelp.com memebers and veterens) My best friend went with me to the consultation who's a nurse and also a 3 years post-op of WSL. So she asked the medical stuff and I asked the superficial stuff. I think it's wonderful that Dr. Stelmack has a great bedside manner. But it is truely more important for me that he is surgically competent and unfortunately that's something I won't know until the surgery is over. So we'll see.

I felt that Dr.Stelmack was very a competent surgeon, however, I would rate my overall experience with BTC as less than satisfactory. Despite their desperate attempts to convience patients that they are treated as individuals, I always felt like I was just another number in the assembly line. Giving the staff at BTC the benefit of the doubt, it's true that an establishment that has cared for over 20,000 Bariatric surgical patients would assumably become somewhat "routine" in their efforts. In all fairness, the office staff jumped through hoops though to get me a surgical date within 5 days of approval. Very Impressive.

He is wonderful! Very thorough and very informative. He covered all of my questions before I asked them. His Medical Assistant is a doll. She was absolutely delightful. Everyone in the building seemed to be very focused and very happy. However, be prepared because he does talk very quickly. We didn't talk about a lot of aftercare, but he is thorough. Don't eat fat and sugar and here is why........and let me tell you, from what he told me I am not even going to attempt to cheat....LOL

I would rate him a 10!

In my book surgical competence outweighs bedside manner by a long shot.

This surgeon is wonderfull. Yes, he is fast & talks fast but that's a good thing in surgery. He is very confident, knowledgable & efficient & you are not in surgery & under anesthesia for a overly prolonged time.
He is very detailed and cautious both in pre and post-op care. And he is very concerned and empathetic with all his patients.
I highly recommend him as well as the Barix Clinic for your surgery. I spent a year talking to many customers that consigned clothes in our JUST PLUS Consignment Shop in Reynoldsburg, asking them where they had surgery, the surgeon and all the complications and post-op follow up they had. Then I made my decision to have this sugery & go to this surgeon at the Barix Clinic based on that information.

I liked Dr. Stelmack from the moment I met him. He took a lot of time to explain the surgery and the procedures involved. He was more than willing to answer any and all questions I had.

The staff was very professional and polite.

He spoke very fast so you really had to pay attention to what he was telling you.

He totally explained all aspects of the surgery and recovery.

This facility is proven to be one of the best in the country in providing Weight Loss Surgery.

I would rate Dr. Stelmack very highly

In my opinion I would rather have surgical competence but a good beside manner never hurt.

Love him! He was great--facility was great! He was very thorough! Barix has a structured after-care of visiting the doctor and nutritionist every 3 months plus I must have extensive blood work and a visit with my regular MD prior to a check up with Barix.

I recommend Dr. Stelmack highly!

My problem was with the insurance--I was given a document to sign prior to surgery indicating that all expenses would be paid. Now I find that my insurance company has indicated expenses that were over customary and Barix is requiring me to pay them.

I haven't met the surgeon yet. But I have heard great things about him. If anyone has had their Surgery with him please let me know how things went.

My first impression of the surgeon was he seems to be a very knowledgable man.
I think my first impression will not change because as he was explaining things,to us he always has an answer for every question.
The staff was very helpful and very nice.
There was nothing that I didn't like about him. He was very sincere and very helpful.
I think that he knows exactly what he is doing.
He explained the risk of the surgery to us like I just had the surgery done. He made us understand why they were so concerned.
I rate the dr overall a 10 being the best even before the surgery.

Dr Stelmack is actually the 4th surgeon for me in this tedious process, the 3rd I have been assigned to at Barix. He seems very intelligent, friendly, and concerned that I was fully informed about surgery and post-op. Answered questions to my satisfaction. I work w/ 2 women who had him do their surgeries and both are very satisfied w/ his work and follow up care. The staff at Barix have all been very friendly and helpful. Dr. Bates was especially helpful w/ my pre-op stuff, even though she gave me the bad news that I needed even more lab work before I could proceed. She was very thorough, very supportive.

Dr. Stelmack was very professional and very imformative. He was easy to talk to. He did a very good job in explaining the process along with the benefits and risks of this surgery. He took his time and answered all questions that I had. He completed the surgery and I have not had any complications so far. He was very careful to go over post-op instructions as well as was his staff.
