Ive met Doctor Peter's 3 times now, once at his office, and twice at support group meetings, and I'm impressed with how down to earth he is. You never feel like he's talking down to you, he just speaks his mind, very to the point, without using medical jargon to impress. His wife Robbie is really nice, and skinny! :) Great combination, Doc and his wife are! I trust the Doc with my life totally, and can't wait to be on the other side! I know once I have the surgery, they will always be there for me, as Ive seen it thru other patients experiences. He dosent sugar coat anything, just states the facts, which I like.

I called and spoke with Robbie (his wife and assistant) last week and she was so patient in answering my initial questions. She had a way of putting me at ease just on the phone. I look forward to meeting with them both in person on Feb 5, 2004. I am very nervous of complications. I hear this is "normal" but I am very nervous of death of severe complications.
5-7-04: Well, I have had 2 appointments and I have attended 2 support meetings. Today was my first "procedure" with Dr. Peters. He is so calming just to have at your side. He has an excellent bedside manner and he truly cares about his patients. I feel so comfortable with my decision and choice of a surgeon. I have no doubt he will be the best possible doctor for this procedure for anyone. I give Dr. Peters a clear 10+. Honest, upfront, caring, and compassionate. Add in a triple dose of knowledge and what more can you ask for?!?!?!

I had my first office visit with DR.PETERS on DEC. 8 2003, DR PETERS was probably the most straight forward DR. i had ever met .He told me that if i didnt quit smoking that he would not do the surgery and i believe he ment it sooo i quit. I had my surgery on MARCH 22 2004 and believe me when i say that he is the best and if ever i need further surgery he is the one i want to do it . He is a careing and dedicated DR. He was there for me whenever i had a question no matter how silly it was . And then his staff is the best his wife Robbie is the best , no matter how busy she is she always has tome to talk to the patient. all i can say is thank you both for helping me with a second chance. As DR. peters told me on my very first visit if he operates on you you are a patient for life . well i want more than that , I want to be freinds for life also

My first impression of Dr. Peters was WOW he is just like me BLUNT and STRAIGHT to the point I LIKE HIM!!! His office is in a run down hospital and it is nothing at all like a regular dr.s office but remember looks are decieving. Obviously his main concern is not what is office looks like it is the safety and well being of his patients. Robbie is his nurse/wife and she is FANTASTIC. They are both very down to earth and caring, kind-hearted people who are genuine. Anyone looking for a bariatric surgeon should look no further the best is RIGHT HERE!!! Dr. Peter will tell you on your very first visit that you are his patient FOR LIFE hye wants to know everything that goes on with you, medically that is. He asks that you continue to go to support group meeting and stresses that just because you had the surgery does not mean that you journey is complete it has just begun and believe me you have a long road ahead of you and Dr. Peters is right there with answers to any questions that you might have. Dr. Peters is a phenomenal surgeon, as far as i am concerned NOONE is more competent than him!!! THANK YOU FOR GIVING MY LIFE BACK!!!!!!

The first impression of Dr. Peters to me was that he was to young to be a surgeon. The second thing I thought about him is how bright he must be, with all the training he has, and he is just as humble as anyone you would ever meet. I feel like I've known him for years. He goes over everything you need to know and takes the time for every question you can think of. He cares ,he cares, he cares. His staff constists of his wife Robbie, and another lady, and they are just wonderful. You really don't feel like a patient, but a friend.I would not say Dr peters is gruff, but he knows what is good for you and if you don't do it he is not going to bother with you. I never thought I would ever quit smoking, but he said if you don't I won't operate, and he means it. He is very sharp, and doesn't miss much. If you say you are going to do something and don't he will know it, so beware. HE IS WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY AND AFTER.

I have had to change Surgeons. Dr. Roche has stopped doing the procedure. My consult with Dr. Peters is on Feb 26, 2004.. I am very excited to see what will happen.

Dr. Peters and Robbie his wife/nurse/ everything, are wonderful.... The office is a bit scarey the first time you see it, it's old and a bit rundown but thats not where he does surgery and it is clean. They have support meetings that the doctor goes to once a month with his patients. You can call them anytime for the dumbest of questions. He sees you before you have the surgery and then meets you in there.Lets just say he ALWAYS takes that extra step to make you feel the best you can and he doesn't believe in short cuts. I can NOT imagine anyone else I would have wanted to operate on me...I rate Dr.Peters and everyone that works in his office 10+....
I am a whimp with pain, he was so great he did get mine under control and never made me feel like I wasn't in pain. Great bedside manner.
Look no further Dr.Peters should be your doctor.

My first impression of Dr. Peters was that of a serious man about what he does. I was frightened of his blunt demeanor. That has not changed. I still know if I don't do what I am told, that he will tell me to go find a different surgeon. (I needed to quit smoking). He cares about his patients. He is no non-sense in his approach to telling you how things are going to be and what you need to do to succeed. He is blunt and tells you all the good, the bad and the ugly. He returns phone calls and answers emails. His office staff is very friendly and helpful. He states he will continue to do your aftercare for as long as you live. At the least, he requires you to come back to him for a year. He has a support group for his patients only. His aftercare program is structured mainly by diet and bloodwork initially with follow up based on bloodwork results and how the patient feels.
When it comes down to it, I want a good surgeon who is competent in what he/she does. Although I like a good bedside manner and probably would not choose a physician that I did not like, in the long run, I want someone who knows what they are doing, rather than one who doesn't and is pleasant.
12-3-03 Each time I go to a support group meeting I feel more comfortable about my decision to use Dr. Peters. He continues to be supportive to all his patients. He is truly concerned about his patients.

Dr Peters impressed me from day one. On my first visit he talked to me about the pros and cons of this surgery, but I have lived my life as an overweight person and the pros and cons of that are about the same. I took his test on the second visit and was sure I wanted to have the surgery and that I wanted him to be the surgeon. Dr Peters and his staff are there to answer any and all questions, even if they seemed silly to me when I asked them. I couldn't have picked a better Doctor. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for dedicating your time to helping people like me overcome the biggest obstacle in our lives. You are a hero to each and every one of us you touch.

My first impression of Dr. Peters was a little scary. His office isn't exactly what you'd expect for a highly recommended surgeon whose waiting list is months long.
He doesn't pull any punches. He's brutally honest, up front and even a bit over the top when it comes to his negative shpeil. You will leave his office knowing and understanding ALL of the associated risks.
He provides you with pamphlets to read and a list of excellent websites, including this one. He doesn't want you to take any of this process lightly. He expects you to do what he says and doesn't want to waste time with patients who are in this for purely cosmetic motivations or those that wont follow protocall.
After talking to him, I realized the Mahogony Desk and Corner Office aren't his priorities. His priority is the safety of his patients. He made it very clear that I had to quit smoking. Tough to do, but I did it, because he wasn't kidding. He said he'd send me home on the day of my surgery if he found out I was still smoking. I believe it.
I think I'd have liked it if he came accross as a little more nurturing at first, but I'd rather have a surgeon with his confidence and his determination for successful outcome then someone who says "oh poor baby."
His office staff is helpful, caring and professional. The office manager, Robbie (his wife) knows what she's doing, and without her help and advice I would never have been approved by my ins. co. so quickly.
