at the time of my admission the bariatric floor was being renovated...so bathrooms were smaller on the floor i was on, I had one nurse that was so attentive I thought for sure i was her only patient...she made me feel that way thanks RANA S. !! The hospital staff for the most part were friendly and encouraging, however there are a few nurses and nurse aides that should be retrained....long story....overall if you go--make sure RANA is your nurse!!!

They have a floor tailored for the obese patient. Special chairs, beds (3 kinds to choose from!!), bathrooms, etc. just for bigger people. Each room has a recilner that stands you up to help on thiose 1st sore days. The nurses are specially trained to work with obese patients and be especially observant of any possible complications. I highly recommend Dr. Ellner, Alvarado Hospital and the staff working on 6 North!!

The staff were extremely knowledgeable and considerate of my needs. They went above and beyond what I had expected. (Ophelia rocks!!)

The staff was wonderful. They quickly brought me a fan, when I was too hot and even brought in a reclining chair so I could easily sit up rather than stay in bed. Rooms are all private as well.

I would recommend Dr. Ellner first and Dr. Hiser..... if you want surgery in San Diego. They are great and they do the surgerys at Alvarado. The fifth floor is dedicated to this program.

Staff is very friendly and attentive. Nursing staff is the best I have every encountered. Very attuned to the obese patient.
