Alvarado Hospital Hospital

I'm female and my whole stay (4 days) I only had a female nurse on one shift. It was uncomfortable having a male nurse want to take out my catheter and stuff. I insisted on a female nurse to do that. The one male nurse who I had most of the time would take HOURS to come see why I rang the call button.

The parking was free which was nice since I had of lot of family visiting me. The rooms on the bariatric floor are private rooms. If you closed your door at night it was very quiet in the room. The staff was very good about answering the call light except during shift change but that is to be expected. Since I knew when the shift change was I always made sure I had everything I needed before the change.

If you need help with morbit obesity then I strongly recomend Doctor Wittgrove regardless where you live in the world! Web site: www.gastricbypass.com His office: 619-229-3940
Alvarado Hospital: 619-287-3270
When you talk to the Wittgrove's staff ask them for infomation on lodging. They have made arrangements with some of the local hotels regarding reduced rates. The Day's Inn in Le Mesa, CA (located about 1.5 miles from the hospital. 619-697-9005

Every patient has a private room. Rosemary and Dan (no longer there) were fabulous for me. When I had a bit of a problem at night, someone was there to help me - and stay with me until things could be worked out. They have bariatric beds, large gowns, large wheel chairs, recliners and seem to accommodate their patients in every way possible.
