Barix Clinics of Texas Hospital

Well...don't have a lot to say about this hospital that doesn't exists anymore. They closed up without a good-bye, see ya later..here's your medical records, NOTHING! I called the hospital for a full month, left several voice mails for the nurse to call me back, only to find out a month later that the doors where closed and that the office had packed up and moved out of state. It makes one wonder that they weren't in business for the care of the patients, but only for the money. When competition became to great for them in N. Texas, they folded up and ran....without a saying a word.

I can only rate the parking and how the hospital was equipped to handle overweight people...due to I didnt make it past the receptionist area!
I have to share this with everyone so maybe it could prevent something that happened to me happen to someone else. I was told LIES from the beginning until the end with my experience with BTC. I was told that the insurance end of the hospital "has attorneys and will fight for you" if you have any trouble with insurance. I was told, once my insurance was approved, that any excess of what insurance didnt cover - it would be written off. I was set up for pre-admission tests and had a surgery date scheduled. When I showed up for the tests- after driving 3 hours there- I was stopped at the receptionist's desk and told their was a problem. They had my file for one month and knew that they would not be able to write off the excessive amounts left over after insurance and they let me prepare my whole life for this surgery- setting up work arrangements, arrangements for my daughter while I was at the hospital, getting mentally and physically prepared, etc..while all along they knew I would not be having the surgery. My testing date was 10 days before my surgery date and it all fell through! I was devastated and no one would accept responsibility for the lies that I was told and they sent me out the door telling me I could get a loan for $35,000 and come back! I had to drive home 3 more hours with tears running down my cheeks and a feeling of total devastation. What I would like to express to anyone considering BTC- get EVERYTHING in writing or have your conversations on a recorded telephone line. I would hate for anyone else to show up expecting surgery and get the slap in the face that I did that day.

The nurses were a trip. It didn't seem like there were any rules regarding pain medication. I had one nurse for the night shift that would give me ANYTHING I asked for (not that I was greedy, just in pain). Shots, liquid lortab, no problem. Then the daytime nurse wouldn't give me ANYTHING more than a dose of lortab every 4-5 hours. Not consistent. And it made me angry to be in pain and to know that he COULD give me something, but was refusing to. I also found myself left alone for hours at a time. They told me that I couldn't pull myself up, but would then get on to me for not walking. I didn't know how to get up without "pulling". No one seemed to care how much I walked or if I even did it at all (at least not enough to help get me upright). I especially didn't like having the marketing lady come into my room on my first day of recovery to grill me about how I found out about BTC and how I would rate everything...that could have been done at a later date. All-in-all, I would rate my hospital stay a 5 out of 10.
