Cleveland Clinic (COE) - Westin Hospital
The professional side is more helpful than the hospital side. Stay in ICU as long as you can, once you go upstairs to a room you no longer get the personal attention. My night nurse complained about having too many patients to take care of. One night the nursing asst. pulled my table with phone and call button too far away from my bed. I had touble getting in and out of bed, and the nurses would rush me because they were in a hurry. The anasticiologist (ms) chidded me for crying with the IV. "There are real sick people here, stop it" If you read my profile, you'll understand why I was upset. The surgery was excellent, perfect. The ICU staff was wonderful, even with the touble my veins gave them. Eric ended up with swollen tonsils and the ICU staff wouldn't let him go until a ENT doctor came to see him. So overall, be firm in your requests, don't take any crap from them and you'll be fine. It won't be perfect, but you will be fine.
i was in ICU for 3 days due to complications but as for ICU they were ok i was put on the cardiac unit because i was having heart complications and they were not responsive to my needs nor did they have much of any kind of training on WLS! i was very upset and a lil neglected by the nurses some really cared and others were just blah! other then my morph pump breaking and me being allergic to it in the long run and them denying me the treatment for the allergy it was over all a great place to be and recover i would go back again oh wait i was back several times for treatment and endoscopys!<due to complications i had a fistula stricture neede opening and heart and lung complications i am now 4 months post and would do it all over again if i had to!once again thankyou to my wonderful doc!
