Forsyth Medical Center Hospital

Nurses on th 7E were great!! The hospital a/c wasn't the best, I had to have a fan in my rm. I felt that they arent prepared with foods that WLS patients need. They only offer 2 different protien drinks and both are thick and two types of broth. Well after eating these 3 times a day for several wks, it gets old. They also don't offer anything that WLS patients can drink, except water. No Propel water, Crystal Light, or anything like that. I was brought reg can drinks and coffee, juices w/sugar, etc. I just felt they should have a better select for WLS patients. There was always a shortage of linens and gowns. One of the nurses empty one of my drains at 12:30 am and got it on my gown and I had to wait 40 mins with a sheet around me for them to find a clean gown.

My intermediate care room was not available when I was ready to leave the post-op area. Ordinarily, due to other patients privacy issues, my family and friends would not be allowed to enter this area. Because I was stranded for 6 hours, they errected partitions and allowed my family and friends to see me at ten minute intervals. I got extra special care in this area. I was well enough to stand up and put myself in my next bed as opposed to that horrible scooting experience when you are not quite with it. All of the staff were extremely accomadating and looked after my every need in a timely fashion.

I became very frustrated because every nurse and Dr who came into my room told me a different story about what I should be doing diet wise.
The hospital's manual on the diet Stages had not been updated.
Physical Therapy came to my room twice and it would have much more beneficial to have seen the dietician again.

The only negative thing about this facility is they really could use a parking deck. Parking is horrible. You can drive around for 15 minutes looking for a place to park. Uggh.
The staff was wonderful. Everyone from the nursing Staff to the dietary to house keeping. Everyone was polite and friendly. Made being away from home a little easier during my 7 day stay. Thank you to everyone. :-) ((((HUGGGS))))

I had excellent care in the OR, recovery, icu. However when I was moved to the 8th floor where I had to remind the nurses of my medication needs - one nurse almost put the wrong antibiotic in the wrong iv - it was terrible. I did have one day time nurse that was absolutley wonderful!!! I know that she was angel sent!
