Forsyth Medical Center Hospital

I guess they feel WLS is not a "speciality' because they put Dr. Kellam's patients on all different floors-where ever there is an available bed. I'm not sure what the message is here. Are they so equipped to deal with obese patients they can do it any where in the hospital? I hope that is the message and not the fact that they really don't know a lot about this surgery so let's just fit them in any where we can! Overall, my stay was satisfactory. I would recommend anyone who goes to this hospital, have a friend or family members stay with them as much as possible to keep an eye on everything. Especially in in the beginning, when the patient is so groggy.

The first part of my 24 days stay was in ICU on a ventilator for complications due to surgery. I was there for 8 days, it was a horrible experience for me and my family . With the exception of one nurse, the rest of the nurses and help could have cared less at the outcome of my health. Words cannot describe how we all feel about this unit. Now, the 9th floor, the east tower unit is an exceptional place to be placed for recovery. The nurses, nursing aids and all were very kind , helpful, and attentive. Wendy, Jen, Sean,Chuck,Carolyn,Cathy, & Felicia are just a few that go above and beyond to make your stay nice as possible. The dietary department, however is another story, they ALL need to be educated on WLS and the goals we are trying to achieve.

They couldn't have done a better job for me. They even gave me a courtesy discharge so that I wouldn't have to sit in the billing office at discharge. I was also visited by a patient account manager who personnally intereviewed me about the level of care that I was receiving. She even got me a new set of towels so I wouldn't have to wait for a nurse while she was right there. I was very impressed.
