Lenox Hill Hospital
I am very glad that my surgery was done at Lenox Hill Hospital and if I ever need surgery again I would definately consider using a doctor affiliated with this hospital again.
The medical staff at this hospital, especially the nursing staff, were very caring and showed an honsest and sincere concern for your care and well being.
My experiences were poor overall - that is no fault to the surgeon or physician. It had to deal with the type of surgery that I had (Vertical banding instead of gastric bypass). The gastric bypass patients have a seperate section on the floor that I was on - I seemed to be put with regular surgery patients. The nurses and aides were indifferent to my pain medication machine going off for hours at a time. I was disappointed in the staff assigned to my room. I had surgery there 3 years prior and the staff was wonderful. The staff prior to getting to my room after surgery was WONDERFUL as well. No hospital is restful. As far as vistors are concerned - they were ok once I could be located as I was in the recovery area for nearly 11 hours. Also, parking - the hospital is in a location of New York that has very limited parking garages, etc. No fault of anyone.
I would still go back to Lenox Hill for any furture surgeries, etc.
Like all hopsitals, ther are some good nurses and some bad ones, some good blood takers and some bad ones. That simple. I liked it very much above all.
THE STAFF WAS WONDERFUL. I WAS IN VERY GOOD HANDS.
I had a great experience with my stay. I had a private room and felt very comfortable my entire stay.
I feel that Lenox Hill needs to accomodate obese people better, wheelchairs need to be brought in and kept for obese people, nurses need to learn to handle obese people more gently and with more understanding. It seems the staff could not be bothered with what we were going thru...this is sad...we need them at that time and we seem to always be put on the back burner...
Lenox Hill Hospital is a teaching hospital which has its pros and cons. The major pro was that many professionals were looking in on me. The major con was that some of these people caused me unnecessary pain as a result of their inexperience.
The majority of people on the ward were WLS patients. During my five day stay there were at least 8 - 10 others just like me. That alone was encouraging. The staff knows all about WLS patients. From time to time, the day nurses were a bit slow to respond (I always knew when it was lunchtime), but I've never been in the hospital, and they may have not been so slow, considering, after all. Everyone from the Residents, RNs, Nurses's Aides, and transport staff were friendly and comforting. I was transferred to a private room, which was great and my wonderful night nurse even allowed my mother to stay over on my last night.
