This hospital like I said is beyond wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone. No matter how far you may be, it would be worth the trip!

The hospital was great. They gave my husband a pager during surgery that they sent him codes on. 111 for example meant that surgery started. 222 meant that surgery was half way done, etc. The hospital stay itself was very nice. They have taken rooms that were built for 2 patients and converted them to one patient rooms. Mine even had a fold out couch in that my husband could have stayed in. The nurses aides were wonderful. The only time I saw the actual nurses were if I needed meds, other then that the nurses aides did almost everything. They were very friendly and helpful. I really had a great experience and would reccommend this hospital to everyone.

The nursing staff was very busy and everytime I would ask for pain medication they would "forget" (they actually told me this more than once) and it would take over 1 hour to get pain meds. Also, they would say they'd bring you something but then would "forget" and never come back with what they said they would get you!!!

The staff was very caring and helpful. The nurses (not nurse assistants)stopped in and checked on me VERY frequently to check and see how I was feeling and if I needed anything. When it was time for pain meds the nurse would stop in my room and see if I needed it instead of me having to ask.

The nurses and the aids as well as all the staff was wonderful at this hosptial. I did not have to wait to have my bell answered at all. I had the same nurse and same aid each day, I felt that was nice because they 'knew' me. I am happy that I had this done and Sioux Valley Hospital.

Perhaps it was the pain & drugs or maybe it was my first surgery experience: But I got the distinct impression that I was experiencing the Nationwide Nursing shortage "Up Close & Personnal"! Don't get me wrong, the entire staff on floor 2000 (Post Surg) worked their behinds off, and impressed me and took Great care of me, EXCEPTIONALLY SO, but these folks were under manned and under gunned. I take my hat off to them. WOW !!! But they need more help!!! I felt sorry for them.

Overall it was a good stay at the hospital. The only thing I had a problem with was sometimes getting them in the room to help me with whatever I needed.
