Sisters Hospital Hospital
I have had 2 major surgeries in my life. One was at Millard Fillmore Gates and was for my brain surgery and the other was my GBY at Sister's Hospital. Sister's was unbelievable! They were so helpful, kind and full of respect. I have nothing bad to say about the surgical staff, the nursing staff or even the housekeeping staff!! They were all very professional and helpful and polite! I'm a nurse myself and it was nice to feel safe with my care in the hands of others for the few days I was there. I'd go there again for any procedure necessary. I also have to say that the private room was amazing. My own bathroom and bedroom was a nice way to recover away from home.
First things first I love sisters. I have had 2 babies and 2 surgeries here so far. Tummy tuck will be the next on the list. Anyway..soon as I got here, they put me in a private room for my pre-op prep and wait. After, i went to the bariatric floor and had a private room with private bath. Being obese, that's a godsend if you are already conscious about what you look like. Everything was nice and quiet. My husband actually stayed the first night with me and they didn't care. He did with the other times I have been here too. I had a morphine pump the first night so i was pretty much out of it. Then they switched me over to an anti inflammatory I believe..to get it to work better on the pain and lortabs. Parking..right outside the hospital and they stamp tickets so I think its pretty cheap. Overall..the hospital is great. I don't know if there are other choices if you have surgery with Synergy Bariatrics but if there were choices, I would choose Sister's.
Sisters Hospital has a state of the art Bariatric Surgery wing. It has 10 dedicated private patient rooms. Every person from orderly to nurse to doctor in that wing is trained specifically to care for obese patients, and patients undergoing weighloss surgery. The hospital is clean and well managed. THe staff is friendly, attentive, and well trained. The accomodations in that wing are designed for larger patients- larger seats, recliners, beds, and toilet seats, making your stay more comfortable. The gowns actually fit! (mine was huge on me). They responded within a minute whenever I hit the call button, I never had to wait more than a minute or two to go to the bathroom, or get what I needed. My pain management was carefully monitored, and I was never in any unmanageable pain. The only complaint I would have is that when I was having a minor complication in the recovery room, they did not alert my husband, they just kept him waiting. I was expected to be in there for 1 hour, but I was in there for 3, because they couldn't raise my body temperature. So, I think that they need to make sure, no matter what the case, when that hour comes around, they need to come out and let loved ones know what is happening- even if it just means you will need a little more time in recovery to meet certain criteria before being allowed to be moved to your room.
This was the nicest group of nurses, aides and therapist I have ever met! I was ther for a very long time, and now am proud to call some of these terrific people my friends.
Being a Nurse Practitioner with many years of floor nursing experience in my past makes me a "critical" customer. Believe me, I found nothing to complain about as far as the nursing care goes. I felt that the nurses and all of the staff on the Bariatric Unit are skilled, competent, and compassionate professionals. I had a few minor complications, and I felt that everyone was very much on top of things- I felt well taken care of and safe.
