Unity Hospital (COE) Hospital

My stay at Unity was very pleasant I am 6 feet tall and the hospital beds were too short and very uncomfortable for me. The staff did everything they could to help out and found me a recliner to sleep in which helped a lot They had staff on my floor that had had the same proceedure done and could help us with what to expect.

I liked having a private room though it was very small. The bed was terribly uncomfortable but everything else is very accomodating to obese people and WLS patients. Most of the nurses were great and some have had WLS also so that is very helpful. I was not very happy with some of the aids and their competency but other then that the over all experience was good. I like that the hospital is very simple to get around and find where you need to go easily.

All of the nurses that I had were just wonderful and very kind. the only complaint that I had was the day after surgery they come buy and wake everyone up and shuffel you to the showers. I was very tired and week the next day and was in no mood for a shower but that did not matter It was doctors orders the nurse told me. So I showed them the next morning I made them set me up a shower at 3AM at least the water was hot at that time ;)
One of my nurses had even hsd this procedure done like 2 years ago so it was nice to have her helping me.

Dr. Baker has reserved a few private rooms at the end of one wing for all his wls patients. It's at the end of the hall, so you are forced to walk to get to the shower and to walk around the nurses station, which is good. The rooms are private, and I was allowed to have my Mother spend the night, both nights. It was great having her there to help, especially in the middle of the night. Dr. Baker's nurses are all trained in wls and a couple have even had the surgery themselves. All in all it was a wonderful experience (as far as hospitals go) I would highly recommend Unity Hospital and especially Dr. Baker.
