Unity Hospital (COE) Hospital

I was extremely impressed with this hospital. Prior to surgery the whole process was so through and ran like clock work. Once in my room, my nurses were extremely knowledgable. I had one nurse that was wonderful and I couldn't wait to see her the next day when her shift ended. My nurses made sure I was up and walking as often as possible. They also made sure I was drinking as much as I could. I was confident things would go well at home when I left there. Thanks for the awesome experience.

Terrible pain management - I had to ask for pain medication - a hospital policy that I think is in place to make things easier for the staff. I'd wake up in the middle of the night in agony because I could not have my pain medication brought to me every 3 hours -- I literally had to ask them for it when I needed it.

I am so glad that I took my time to research the hospitals because I still feel I got the best care possible at Unity. I have since talked to other locals who have had wls and their programs come up short. I would recommend Unity to anyone who cares how they are treated and want less complications than other hospitals.

Had an overall good experience. Couple of weird things happened. One, they kept taking my blood sugar readings. I was out of it the first day of surgery, so didn't say anything. Second day I asked why they were doing it, nurse said because I have diabetes...I don't have diabetes. She called my surgeon right away and apologized saying that they had thought I did. Second thing that happened was on my first night there, lab person came in to draw blood for cross and match for blood I was to be given. Again, I was out of it, so I just gave her my arm for blood drawn. I had said that I didn't lose that much blood, but didn't question it further. When my nurse for the night came in, I asked why I was going to get blood. She said that it was a mistake on my chart. I told her they drew blood and she apologized. Other than that, very good nurses and staff, very willing to help with pain management.
