University of Illinois Hospital

The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The nurses would help my husband take me for walks and always was curteous to my visitors. I was so happy to have the nurses give me my first sponge bath after surgery. The only problem I had was with one nurse who the second day after surgery had left me in the shower alone, and I did not feel comfortable getting out of the shower on a wet floor, for fear that I would fall and not be able to get up or seriously hurt myself. I certainly understand that no one is going to be perfect. Other than that the staff was Excellent.

The hospital overall was very good, however, not all the nurses were well informed about the needs and necessities after the surgery. Some meals were selected for me and had foods I could not eat after surgery. I was not able to get a nurse to help me take a shower before I went home (I had an open Roux-en-Y). I did find the staff, overall, to be very nice and friendly....except for that one person that kept waking me up in the middle of the night to take my temperature and blood pressure, then told me to go back to sleep, lol.
