USC University Hospital Hospital
The staff at the hospital really work to make things right. I had a tough start after my surgery and as a result, I had several nursing managers visit to follow up on my care - one even brought me a teddy bear! Rough moments can happen at any facility, but they always seem to be working to make it better. My husband was able to stay overnight several nights and since it's a teaching hospital, there are always doctors or residents reviewing your charts. I always felt that I was in good hands.
Noisy, unfortunately. Door next to me led to stairs, that everyone slammed in and out of. Noisy in hallways; IV's constantly beeping, for 10-15 min. at a time. They were always quick to come to my room whenever I beeped them. Pkg. expensive - $7.50/day; no break for pt. or families. Never could get a "soft-scrambled" egg.
The hospital staff was friendly and very helpful. I received good care and they were very responsive whenever I need pain medications. I would have preferred that visitors not spend the night since my roommates husband snored all night and she kept the lights on and that was irritating. He should have gone home.
Overall it was a horrible expeirence!! Dr Crookes was the ONLY person I could trust that had my best interest at heart. However, it was a fight just to get the staff to get him to my room. He was the only one that listened to what I was saying. I found that many of the nurses and techs were in violation of JCAHO standards and I filed a complaint with hospital administration. Horrible Horrible Horrible Place to be. Horrible. It would have been much worse had I not been in a private room.
