Wellstar Kennestone Hospital

I had heard a lot of complaints about the nursing staff there on my WLS email group, so I was prepared to have a bad experience. I was very pleasantly surprised by the nursing skills and care that I received. While I did have a few minor complaints, I think overall the hospital's staff did an excellent job in caring for me.

The only negative thing was the "vital" takers, who were mostly younger lay-persons.. They did not understand surgery and constantly had to be reminded of the PICC line for blood pressure and the incision.

THE NURSES WHERE HELPFUL; THE MEAL GOT MIXED UP A LOT.

The staff was sensitive to my obesity, well informed about my procedure; patient; caring; knowledgeable about what requirements my doctor has; for the most part upbeat and a positive influence on my recovery.

This is a great hospital most of the nurses were ver patient and caring..i would advised this hospital to anyone having the surgery.

The best advice is make sure you get a private room.

I have to say that i worked here, and specifically worked on 5 south, so my comments may not be what everyone else percieved.

Overall experience was very pleasant but watch what is put on your food tray, there are things we're not supposed to have to begin with so you should know up front what your requirements are. Waiting 2 hours for pain med was not very professional - had to wait for the pharmacy to send it up? Luckily I call for the med before I needed it, primarily as a test. This hospital - like all - is not the place to get much rest. I would highly recommend upgrading to a private room for the few dollars extra.

I wasn't pleased at all with the day shift.

The staff would love for postops to come back and share how they are doing now, or to send them before and after pictures.
