ObesityHelp Conference: Tammy Has Checked In!

September 30, 2013

Hello ObesityHelp Friends and Family!

This is Tammy, Editor-In-Chief here at ObesityHelp.com.  Guess where I am?  With the ObesityHelp Conference just a few days away, I have officially checked into my room at the Crowne Plaza Resort!

As some of you may or may not know, I lived in California for 23 years but in recent years I have been dividing my time between Maine (where I am caring for family members) and California. So I decided to fly the friendly skies almost a week before the OH conference to take some personal time for some much needed R & R.

On my first full day back in Cali, it was hard to pry myself out of bed. I was exhausted after a long day of traveling and with the time difference... I was a little off kilter.  It felt so good to sleep in (hotel and all!) and to not have a schedule to adhere to.  I read a book, sipped on some hot coffee, and then finally hit the road and headed on up to the Hollywood, Los Angeles area for a few hours to visit family and friends. It felt so good to be "home" again.  To top the day off, I stopped by one of my favorite Sushi bars and ordered a spicy tuna hand roll in soy wrap and garlic sauteed edamame soy beans.  Yummy!  Just before sundown, I headed on back to my home away from home room at the Crowne Plaza.

So...more about the Crowne Plaza Resort and area!

From my hotel room on the seventh floor, I have a great view of the California mountains and all things Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Disney.  My room is clean and spacious, has a mini-fridge, flat screen TV, free Internet access, and all the bells and whistles. My King-size bed is comfortable and cozy. (As cozy as any bed away from home can be!)

Oh, and if you love your coffee, be sure to bring your favorite K-cups as the Crowne Plaza coffee machines in your room will be a Keurig!  Having said that, the hotel provides a few K-cups of coffee and tea for you to chose from. (Today, my room has: Green Tea, Green Mountain Breakfast Blend, Tully's Medium Roast Decaf, and Tully's House Blend.) *See update below!

As for dining, there is a restaurant located in the hotel and on my first night night here I ordered room service.  I had the Gourmet Vegetable Sandwich which consisted of grilled mushrooms, artichoke hearts, eggplant, melted pepper jack cheese, and basil aioli on herbed Ciabatta bread.  It was absolutely delicious!

Within walking distance there are several other dining opportunities: Joe's Crab Shack, Outback Steakhouse, Red Robin, Coco's and too many more to mention!

If you want to travel light...no worries.  There is a Target directly across the street from the Crowne Plaza. You can get a little exercise in and walk there in no time at all!

More updates and info from me later! I hope to see you all this Friday and Saturday!

Tammy

**UPDATE: I have just been informed that not every room has the Kuerig coffee machines yet!
