Message Board Lingo

We have bookmarks Located in the top right hand side corner of the site, go to any page on the site, then click on “Bookmarks”, the page you are on will appear pre-filled out, just click “save”. Now you can access that page anytime by going to bookmarks and selecting the link.

Message Board features/buttons:

allows you to edit your posts, if you want to correct something or add something you can do so with this feature.

allows you to send an e-mail to Obesityhelp Staff at any point, the post you are reporting will be sent and you will be able to add a comment. This is for posts that violate our terms of service. Our terms of service are located on the bottom of each page or you can read them Click here

button is used for being able to copy what you are replying to and it will be in your post along with your response.

allows you to reply to the member, you can reply within a post to someone directly by pressing this button under the person’s post.

allows you to be able to remove a post you posted as a reply.

allows you to contact a member by the private messaging system

allows you to add someone on your list of friends

Legend :

= Sticky- This means that a post is stuck at the top, the post will be green

= Urgent This means a post is important

= Locked This will appear when a moderator has locked a post, the post is still viewable, but no one will be able to post a reply.

How to add your photo in the before/after section?
Photos would need to be e-mailed into our photo team to be added photos@obesityhelp.com We request this area be for those who have lost over 100 pounds, however if you don't have 100 pounds to lose we make those considerations. Be sure when e-mailing to include your username.

How do I start a post?

This will start a new post, it’s located on the very top right corner of the message board.

How do I get to my state message board, surgery board, my special interests? On the top tool bar hover over "Forums", a drop down will appear and you can click on "show all forums" or if you are on the main board under the banner area you can select the various message boards from the light blue drop downs. Don’t forget the use of bookmarks on the top right of the site for even quicker access.

I've lost 100 pounds, how do I get a "century card"?
Currently we are not taking requests for century cards, as we are preparing for a system for members to be able to put their own cards on their page. This will be coming in the next few months.

How do I unsubscribe from the e-mailing list?
Log In . Click on “Contact Preferences” Set your settings to “No.”

How do I hide my profile?
Though not recommended, if you must hide your profile, Log In. Once there click on “General Info” Set Public Profile to “No.” In the new profile system you can set your blog for only your friends to see under "customize profile" and then select the setting you want to change for your profile.

I can't log in.
Have the site email you your name and password. Check to verify that they aren't working. If they aren't, then let us know. Try rebooting your computer.

I need help with a store order.

My surgery date is wrong—how do I fix it?
When you enter your profile under "my account" on the top right of the site, click on the “I've got a date” link in the middle column. When that page opens, you will see where you enter your surgery date information. Be sure and scroll down and hit “update” so it will save your changes.

How do I list my angel?
When you enter your profile under "my account" on the top right of the site, click on the “I've got a date” link. When that page opens, scroll down and you will find an area to enter your angel's information and click update.

Why does my name come up in a web search?
We (and no one) have no control over the current content of the search engines. We never share, distribute, or sell your information to any search engines. You must contact the search engine directly in order to have them remove your information from their database. It may be possible that once the search engine re-attempts indexing the page and is disallowed it will remove the page from its index. These are open forums and searchable to please remember that when posting your information on the message boards and within your profiles.

Why can't I get into the chat room?
Users with WebTV are currently not able to access our chat. Sometimes AOL users will experience a problem; we suggest rebooting your computer, as that sometimes helps. IN ORDER TO USE THIS CHATROOM YOU MAY NEED TO UPGRADE YOUR VERSION OF JAVA. Click here to download the latest version of Java.

I am not listed on the Find Peers page.
First, new members will not show up on this page for up to TEN days. You must have a public profile. If you still can not find your listing, remember that the page displays pages by last name. Have you tried selecting the “All” option, or have you tried selecting the first letter of your name?
