Hi everyone! I just found this group - I have been playing around on the VSG forum. Glad to have found this local group, though!

I was just sleeved on June 27, 2012. I live in St. Paul area. Are there any support groups/meetings in the area? I love the forums, but I also know that I am going to want to meet local friends IRL, also!

Hello Heidi and Welcome to the MN group!!

I live in St Cloud so I can't help you with the groups in St Paul. I have been to them but it has been a long time. I am sure others will be able to give you locations and times.

Congrats on your surgery....I wish you well!!

Things are kind of slow on here right now. People are so busy with summer activities. Don't give up on us!!

I see you and latrice are both through st paul surgeons. call them and ask them about their support groups. or visit their website. i know they have them! I am too far to attend but i have been told about the groups. Good luck!!

Funny you mention the surgeons having a group... I just checked my email and found an email inviting me to attend a support group through my nut! HA.

Yu both would be welcome at or South of the River group. We meet in Eagan at 35E and Yankee Doodle, every other week we meet at Panera by Burnsville Mall. If you are interested I or another from the group will give more specific details. (like 8:30 AM-10 or so) next Saturday will be at Burnsville. We have RNY VSG and DS in the group. Our goal is long term success and mutual support. Love to see you.

We've also had people bring kids--don't worry about that. They might get bored with adult talk, depends on ages, but sometimes parents set the kids up with books, or Nintendo, or phone games, etc.

This coming Saturday, July 14th, should be at Panera in Burnsville Center at 8:30am. Everyone is welcome!

These folks from the South of the River group are the BEST!!! I found them right after my surgery, while I don't make as many sessions as I would like - we also keep in touch through Facebook and some of us even swapped phone numbers and such.

I am going to try to make coffee this weekend - hope to see some of the peeps, I do miss you all so much. Summer keeps me busy and gone most of the time!

Yup, Panera Bread in Burnsville this week - 8:30 until whenever - hope to see you there!

Welcome to the forum - these folks are so helpful and compassionate! AND - when we have clothes that we outgrow - we do clothes swaps at coffee - it is the greatest thing!
