Howdy,

I was a slow starter, but doing fairly well for a revision. At this rate, I could be at goal in 4-5 months! Down 28 pounds since revision, 144 pounds from highest and 31 from goal.

Happy about the weight loss, but the stomach issues, gassy stomach and constant potty time I can do without. Most of you guys talk about constipation. My problem is the opposite. Not diarrheah but I go many times a day. (4-6)

Keep eliminating and changing food but still issues. All of my whey protein gives me issues. Anything with erythritol, sugar alcohol, etc gives me issues. My vitamins and iron give me issues. I am lactose intolerant but now it is worse after surgery. I drink 30 calories almond milk. I love cheese and ff greek yogurt but limiting that or trying Lactaid before I eat these products.

Its frustrating because I cannot seem to pin my stomach issues on one particular thing. Just grumpy stomach all the time. Please tell me this gets better.

People who only have constipation will not relate to this.

I will be ten years out next month. I consider 4 to 6 times a day diarrhea even if it is not liquid and I treat it with Imodium. One tablet and I will be good for a long time.

I can use absolutely no sugar alcohols. I only drink lactose free milk. I avoid fruit and most vegetables. I use no whey protein and no protein supplements. Fiber pills help but Citrucel is the only one that will not cause gas and bloating. I also have Lactaid tablets in case I want to eat something with lactose.

Sometimes the lactose intolerance and diarrhea will get better. Then it comes back again. For me, I do not expect it to ever be completely gone. It is the price I paid for the surgery.

I hope your experience is different and it all gets better for you but I would suggest using Citrucel, Imodium, and Gas-X rather than living like that.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. Its not diarreah. Just frequent pottying, tummy rumbling and toxic gas. Do you avoid cheese as well? It just seems a miserable life if I cannot eat cheese, yogurt, fruit, vegetables, etc. So do you just eat meat?

google SIBO...FODMAP diet

yea.. whey and cheese, yogurt- need to go - 100% at least until things stabilize.

raw veggies- are no go for me. Too much fiber - no go.. onion, garlic, etc - itsi not go most of the time. Grains - no go..etc etc.

try low FODMAP diet, then as you progress - start adding little this and that and see what is really irritating you the most.

i eat eggs, meats, cooked, soft veggies. raw pickles and cucumbers, some tomato...

berries as fruits.

any dairy hurts me. It sucks. But being in pain sucks more.

Give it a month break. then try small qty hard cheese. i can tolerate some of that. Whey, milk, yogurt, cottage cheese- no way. It does suck.

iron- just kills my gut. multi- with iron - no go. Chewable - they have SA - so check that. Even small qty of the SA - no go - big time. No SF chewing gum.

Hi, I looked at all my chewable Bariactiv vitamins and they have maltitol. All 7 pills I am taking every day have sugar alcohol. So those are being replaced by patches and big girl vitamins now that I am two months out. Not really in pain at all . Just gassy and go potty frequently.

I hated the gas. Still do.

Watch for beans, undercooked veggies. In time - you may be able to introduce them back, but 2 months post op - it may be too early. Remember pouch dose not make a lot of acid. Digestion is compromised. What you don't digest- the bacteria in your gut will, creating gas. As long as you can pass it - all is cool. But when you have to hold it, or things stop moving as good as they do now - that when the pressure or pain can start.

Eliminating the SA - it may take 2-3 days before the full effect or much less gas is shown.

SA always make me super gassy. Any of them. Even erythritol, that done people tolerate rather well.

Good luck.

FYI- you may be ok with hard cheese. But it may take a few more weeks or months to tolerate other milk product. Or ... All the distress was caused by the vitamins. Hopefully that was the cause. .
