I'm so sorry about your kitty. It is such a hard time when a beloved kitty is nearing the end of their life. Hugs to you both.

So sorry your kitty is not doing very well. It's so hard when pets get old.

I'm hoping she'll hang on a few more months. Even with kidney disease, they often will if you do subcutaneous fluids (which we're pros at at this point), but at her age, who knows. Maybe it's just a grooming thing (caused by her arthritis) rather than kidney disease - I hope so, anyway. I just am not ready to lose one of the cats right now - it's been way too tough a year for us!

Happy Saturday everyone. I am being lazy this morning and am still in bed. I am catching up on some of the tv shows I have recorded, but no****ched.

Not much planned today. I need to do laundry, and will help my friend do some more unpacking.

QOTD: I love the Olympics and will watch it when I can. I love the snowboarding and skiing the best, so either one of those would be my choice if I were either athletic or talented.

Accountability: I did well yesterday, and today I seem to have a small pouch. Yay!

3 years + 2 months post op:

B: Xtreme Health tortilla, egg beaters, mozzarella and bacon

L: Beef Barley soup

D: 4 oz chicken thigh

Have a great weekend!

Ooh, I love ski jumping on the wii, hahaha. I know I'm just standing on my living room floor but it feels like I'm flying. I love it! I love the rhythm of the speed skaters, too.

I was very well behaved at my work retreat in terms of food choices. I had chicken for dinner last night and lunch today, along with a small salad. And breakfast was one egg and a piece of bacon--and soooo much coffee. I had a lot of wine (for me) last night but no snacks other than that. I am down two pounds, too! I've lost a total of 4 pounds since New Year's Day and I'm pretty sure it is real pounds no****er fluctuation. 2 more lbs until I hit the goal I set for myself.

I left the work retreat a few hours early because we have tickets to the theater tonight and I need a nap and a meal before we go. Not sure what's for dinner yet, but if we eat at home I will have some Trader Joe's turkey meatballs.

Hi RNY folks,

I mostly lurk right now, but was intrigued by the Olympics QOTD.

I am a former competitive figure skater and speed skater (nearly 40 years of skating, 28 of coaching), so those sports are my favourite ones to watch.

But for those of you whom are looking for alternative exercise, many rinks have adult skating programs now and it is generally low impact exercise. Once you get some good solid basics, it becomes very social and fun. The movement is different from running or walking and usually complements those activities. Because skating is a lateral motion sport it tightens up thighs and calves and your core gets involved from the need to balance. It isn't as easy as the skaters on tv make it look:-)

Anyway, I really enjoy reading your posts and hope to join in more regularly in the future. I am still pre-op and am hoping to have it all sorted by March this year!
