I am 3 weeks post op today. I am wondering if anyone else out there is a complet bum on weekends? I get so tired and just want to lay around when I am not working.. I feel guilty when I do because I am a single mom of two kiddos and work full time so I don't get much time with them. Thoughts on this? Is it me being lazy and should I be up and moving all the time or is this just temporary? Did I mention I can sleep alot during the day on the weekends? I so want to get back in church and active.. Feel so guilty when I do this..

This is not at all lazy and is what your body needs.  Take it easy.  Don't push yourself and don't beat yourself up over it.  You're working full time with two kids and just had a major surgery.  Give yourself time to recover.

I'm still pre-op, but my Dr said it's normal to feel sluggish for 4-6 weeks after surgery. Just hang in there, it'll get better!

Totally normal and you shouldn't feel guilty.

You'll start not being able to sit still on the weekends soon enough.

I expierenced that same issue. It was tough but I faught through it... just walking a mile seemed impossible. If you force yourself to do it you will find yourself with more enegry, make sure you get the proper protien amount and walk walk walk.... and before you know it you will be walk, run walk run....

Fight the fight!

I want so bad to be lazy and sleep in on weekends but my stupid body wakes up and makes me get up and then the dog gets up and then there's no rest for the wicked so we end up doing stuff all weekend long.

Stupid body. lol  I miss sleeping in. But I guess it's better for me to get my butt up.

I didn't feel completely normal until about four weeks after surgery.

For me, guilt is a very dangerous feeling, especially when it comes to my eating and exercise behaviors.  I mean, guilt is really appropriate if I think about stealing money, but not about taking a nap.

It is dangerous because the monkey will use it against me as an excuse to eat.  "You're a failure, you might as well eat."  Banishing guilt around food and exercise is really key to my own peace of mind, not just some sort of self-indulgent new age BS.

I was not fully "right" until about two months after surgery.  Be gentle with yourself.  The anesthesia packs a big wallop and you're still healing.
