I am SO glad to have found this forum!  I was introduced to my local forum a little while ago but finally started looking around and found you guys!

There is a "pilot program" in Winnipeg, MB (yes, I'm a Canuck) that I was referred to back in March of 2010.  Unfortunately, because it's a pilot project there are strict criteria.  The max BMI they will accept is 47.  In March 2010, mine was 57.  So was referred out of province but nothing has been happening.  I had lost 25 lbs last year and on April 2 I put my foot down and buckled down.  Since then I've lost another 20!  So as of Monday's weigh in, I am down 45 from my highest and 36.8 from a BMI of 47.

It's nice to see that I can find people who get it.  Yes I am losing weight on my own but when you need to lose 200 lbs to meet normal BMI you need to be realistic and accept the help you need.

Looking forward to getting to know you!

I am on myfitnesspal as 1crazycatlady if anyone wants to add me.

nope, still not in program. My doctor can send a letter saying I meet criteria when I'm down to 290 (26.8 pounds from now - typo in my original post). So for now I'm trying to eat like I have a sleeve. Generally around 1000 calories, today is a higher calorie day because I've had some low ones lately. Also eating mostly protein.

welcome fellow Canuck (I'm in Vancouverish)

that's weird they're so strict given that they used to do stomach stapling like crazy according to a former coworker who had it done there 20+ years ago!

here its just long waitlists cuz there's only a handful of surgeons - I probably won't have surgery for a year!

To people who don't have faith it won't make sense but I have been praying FOR YEARS for God to take away my cravings. I know that if He wanted, I could wake up thin but I knew that I have to do the work so I asked for Him to help me. I believe that prayer has finally be answered in giving me the will power to avoid those foods that are triggers. I still find that I think about ice cream or chocolate or white sugar/flour but I stop myself and say is it something you REALLY want. The answer is always no. I've lost 20 pounds probably 30 times in my life but I have never seen the results the way I do now and I know that's because not am I restricting calories but I'm making healthy choices. That's why this particular forum is so important to me because all of you understand what it's like to come from a higher weight. So....thanks!
