You will do well.....those first 8-10 weeks the weight comes off pretty easily which is exciting and makes it seem all worthwhile. You will have a few bumps, i.e. eating too fast, trying things a little too early, and so on. But all will be good!!

Congrats if I can give you one tip stay one the boards here. I had my lapland put in back in 2008 and of course things went well at first and I didn't need my support group here. It's 8yrs later and I'm considering revision and I've had to deal with why I'm back at the same weight I was before. One of those reasons is support, you'll need it from family and friends and those close to you. But you'll also want to stick around here for the long term, it's a constant reminder to stay honest about your food. Also if you notice the people with their tickers slide far to the right and at or close to goal, many of them have been on here for years.

Thanks guys! I can definitely already see the value of the community here and I know how helpful it is to have support from others going through similar experiences and dealing with similar issues. I certainly intend to stick around, learn from you and hopefully share whatever I can that can be helpful.
@YellowTJ, I think you're persistence in achieving your goals is inspirational. Good for you for doing the hard work to get at the reasons things have gone the way they have for you!
As others have said, I know I'll have a honeymoon phase. My real concern is the long game and I know that will require a lot of effort to stay focused on my goals. I'm sure I'll be counting on resources like this community to keep me going.
Update: everything looked good this morning in radiology so I've started a clear diet. I'm glad to be eating again, but it's not too comfortable given everything hasn't kicked into gear yet. I'm feeling really bloated and swollen! I've done lots of laps around the unit ad I've just been taken off my pain pump (mixed feelings about that!) I also can't wait to get the dang Foley removed. Scheduled to go home tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting home so I might actually get some sleep!
