I starting the process on getting weight loss surgery,,, I have an information session in Ottawa Weight Loss clinic,, just wondering if anyone has been thru the process in Ottawa and just wondering how long the hole thing takes before surgery,,,

everyone is different and depends of your assessment centre and associated surgical site

Welcome aboard, my timeline is below.  Generally they say it takes a year from refferal. things have been picking up in Ottawa and with the addition of a third surgeon in August we are hopeful that it will speed things up again.

congrats on getting this thing started. I'm sure someone will have answers for you. My advice is to be patient, but make sure that things are still moving (call the centre if you haven't heard anything in a "reasonable" period of time).

Welcome and good luck!  A year seems about the average time people are waiting from the time of their referral. I'm very excited for you!!!

Hi and welcome!!  My timeline is below.  It was almost a year from referal before I got my first appointment.  Ottawa has one of the longest wait times but hopefully things will speed up with the new surgeon starting soon!!!

My referral was february 2010 i would have an appointment i couple months ago but the dr gave the wrong address on my forms so i had to call in for my first information session and i go in june hopefully it will get done by christmas time,, i would love to be losing weight by next summer
