Thank you so much Kelly. It's people like you that make this website so great. I will surely check into all of your suggestions.

It's normal.  The nerves that tell your brain you're hungry were cut during surgery and take time to heal.

I'm not sure why you are producing so much saliva though.

You are just experiencing a couple of side effects of this surgery that not all people do. Take advantage of the fact you are not hungry, because that will change. But do eat what is on your plan in 5-6 smalls meals a day.
The other issue with excess saliva is often referred to as "sliming." No one has ever mentioned why this happens to some. It just does. For those on my other support groups who have been through this it seems to stop over time. One person even carried a ziplock baggie with paper towels in it so if it occurred while she was eating out she could be kind of inconspicuous about it. She said when it did happen she never had time to find privacy as it happened suddenly and in copious amounts. I personally think that it has to do with same mechanism that is triggered when we vomit. It is just there isn't much in the pouch now to come up since you are on very limited amounts of food.

Yes Carol M. It is very annoying with the extra slime. I must keep an empty water bottle with me at all times just in case. I would imagine it would be a regurgitation method but if there is nothing to come up, I'm left gagging and convulsing with nothing in my stomach. Thanks for the comment.

The only time that happened to me was when I got food caught.  I am one week behind you .

Welcome to the losers side!! And I am 2 months out and I still have to force myself to eat most times. I am rarely hungry especially during the day. Make sure you drink enough water.. Good luck on your journey!!!

Thank you Chelley. I never thought I'd have to force myself to eat but I suppose that's better than forcing myself not too. As I've been reading though, it seems it gets better.
