Hi menu team! How is everyone? Its hot and muggy here. We went from cold and needing jackets to hot, muggy, sweaty and having "heart alerts, its just bizarre.

New format! I am brain dead with QOTD so since the menu board intention was to post our menus, be accountable and stay connected to OH I challenge you to be accountable. Where we posted the QOTD I will be posting what my actual food/calories were for the day before. If you don't want to participate that's cool.

Accountability: I stuck to my menu all day but in the evening I had about 20 Spicy Nacho Doritos and 4 squares of Cadbury's Fruit & Nut Chocolate bar. I stated yesterday my calories were to be 1061, protein 120, carbs 48 but I ended up with: 1459 calories, 126 protein, 92 carbs. Its good to see this as I need to be accountable to myself and all of you. Maintenance is EXTREMELY HARD and this will help keep me on track. Evening/night time snacking is brutal for me and this is when I struggle the most and I mean struggle!!!

3.7 yrs post RNY - maintenance food

B: lots of decaf with vanilla PP + tuna/peppers/balsamic

L: tandoori chicken wrap (1/2 wrap) take out from across from work

S: 2 babybel

D: deli turkey breast + swiss cheese roll ups + honey mustard

S: yogurt + fresh raspberries + bran buds

TOTALS: 1061 calories, 121 protein, 57 carbs

V: Patches are on

L: 120 oz are my usual (decaf coffee + lots of water with diet cranberry mixed in)

E: step class 60 mins, muscle pump 60 mins, vacuuming the house

Have an awesome day everyone, be fabulous!

Good morning everyone, I had a fun evening last night! We set up a projector and big screen in the backyard and watched our favorite show outside after the sun went down (it was still in the 80s!). I love summer!

I am not looking forward to going in to work today. I got a sent a text message last night that one of our 8th graders was shot in the head yesterday. So far he is stable and going to live, but this is going to be a tough day for all of us. Would you believe it hasn't even been reported on the news? I am continually outraged at the lack of attention the world is willing to pay to this community. Imagine if it happened in the suburbs...Ok, off my soapbox, and leaving to go deal with it.

Ok, here is my accountability for yesterday: I planned 5 meals. I ate four of them. I substituted steak tips in for dinner instead of shrimp & sausage which upped my calories but also upped my protein, so it worked out fine. I did, however add in a handful of pretzel thins when I walked in the door. Boo. Totals for the day ended up being: Calories: 1090 Protein: 129 Carb: 54

22 months post op / didn't weigh in this morning / maintenance diet

B: Iced Coffee with 2% Milk; Greek Yogurt with Lemon Curd

S: 3 ozTurkey with Everything Bagel Spice

L: 6oz Lemon Chicken

S: Oven Baked Cheese Bites

D: not sure

Totals (without dinner): Calories: 689 Protein: 81 Carb: 32

Vitamins: Patches on (D3, Iron & Multi)

Exercise: Nothing formal but a busy day at work and I suspect at least 12,000 steps at work

Oh man Julia, I am so sorry to hear about your student. It's a sad statement about our society that an 8 year old getting shot in the head is not newsworthy. As you said, there would be plenty of coverage and outrage if it was a pretty little blonde girl from the suburbs.

Thinking of you and your school family today.

How awful! I hope he recovers and I can't even imagine what his family is going through. The current state of our media outlets is frustrating, they only seem to want to report things that will generate higher viewership and therefore more $$$

I'm so sorry about your student! It amazes me how much goes on that doesn't get reported if the news people aren't interested in a certain area or that there's so much crime that it doesn't rank high enough.

Prayers for the little boy
