What's on your Photo Friday menu RNYers?

Hi everyone! Happy Friday and happy almost Christmas. We are doing gifts with the kids on Sunday morning since they are with their mom Mon/Tues (then back to us) so the kids are beyond excited. "Only two more sleeps until Christmas!".

QOTD: I adore my in-laws, and in fact Kris' parents and sister are coming from the 25th-30th. I am off until the 2nd so this holiday season will be a perfect mix of relaxing, hosting, seeing friends, and spending time with family. My own family drives me MUCH more crazy. Like you, Karen, I lucked out - Kris' parents are the least judgmental, least intrusive, most loving and awesome people. I did invite my mom to come for a few days but she's being a martyr and spending the holiday at her house alone (my stepdad is seeing his kids in MI and my brother and his wife live nearby but my horrid SIL hates my mom). So yeah, I hear you on family drama.

Janet, I am so sorry that your family isn't always supportive. I hope this puts a smile on your face - last year, Kris' daughter Leah (she was 8 and in 2nd grade at the time) told us she was gay. Very casually, she said, "I like girls and when I grow up I am going to be gay". Our response was, "well whoever you fall in love with better love you SOOOOOO much!" And that was it. I hope that she won't even ever remember "coming out" because it was such a non-event. She knows we love her to the moon and back and I am hopeful that with each generation, who you love is NOT a point of judgement!

B: Leftover 5 oz of crab with mayo and Old Bay (eaten cold - I broiled it the first night and then eat it cold for two other meals!) after my coffee with 3 tbsp measured half and half.

L: A low carb 60-calorie rollup stuffed with 3 oz of deli chicken and cheese (on the go, so this is very portable)

D: the rest of the crab and mayo!

E: Nada, I have a 3rd grade holiday party to go to and have to wrap up work for the year!

Yep! What Jen said! Boars Head Ever Roast chicken. I am going to start asking for it shaved. When I say "sliced super thin, almost shaved" the thickness of sliced varies. If I ask for it shaved, it's perfection!

QOTD 1: I did not take time off for the holidays this year since we are not really going anywhere, but we are taking a vacation in the first week in March so saving PTO for that. We are closing early for Xmas eve and closed on Christmas day so I will automatically get those days off...the end of the year here in the medical insurance verification field is pretty crazy so its hard for me to take time off right now.

QOTD 2: I love spending time with family...I wish my extended family was a little closer...most of my aunts/uncles and cousins live in Iowa...a few scattered other places, but when I was a kid we used to spend the holidays together at my aunt's house- had a giant potluck and everyone did a grab bag christmas gift exchange type thing.
since we moved to Illinois when I was about 11 years old, we have mostly just done Christmas with our immediate family, and since it's growing a lot in the past few years it's nice to have everyone nearby. My siblings are very close and we love that our kids get to grow up close to their cousins.

B: trying overnight oats for the first time today- I used some Premier protein as the liquid to boost protein content, and added some greek yogurt...a tablespoon of PB fit and some cinnamon- I haven't tried it yet but I am hoping it's good! if not I have an Oikos triple zero I can eat instead.

Today is "ugly Christmas sweater day" at work so I am representing my usual festive self...I don't really have a super ugly sweater but I found this little fleecy top that I thought was cute and ugly at the same time...and it has Llamas on it! ha. also my antlers and lights necklace kind of round it all out ;)
