I am up at the snow with my family this weekend. (I am not skiing because if my recent plastic surgery).  Last night we went to this all you eat buffet....so much food.  I thought this s such a waste of money for sleevers so I am going to say something.  (I have never had the nerve to do this before!).  So I told the casher that I had WLS and could I just order the child price as I wouldn't even eat that much.  The girl asked  for my card from the doc...I didn't have one...so she asked to see my drivers license...and when she saw it she said ok I get it!  I got to pay the child's price and I felt so good!...a NSV for sure.  We were with 3 kids and I did eat less than them.

Good for you for speaking out.  I have only been to an all you can eat twice and both times I wish I had spoken up but it was very busy with people waiting impatiently behind us.  Again, good for you.

there was snow but not tons.  We went to Boreal and they make their snow too.  I didn't ski but my husband is a great skier and he said the conditions were good for beginners (like my daughter) but otherwise not great. It worked out great because it was my daughter's first time skiing.
I had a great time in the lodge with a good book and my ipad!  Next year I can try to ski again..it has been years.

I have eaten at Chinese buffets a few times.  I tell them I had surgery and can't eat much, so is it okay if I use a takeout box and just pay for what I want.

I did this a couple days ago, went and took lots of protein stuff (actually, I was hungry and felt like I could eat it all).  They weighed it, and it cost $3.00.

I COULDN'T eat it all - I'm eating the second half of my takeout box tonight for supper, and it is plenty for me.

I'm a very cheap date these days.

What is it with you and I eating at big food restaurants !!!!

When I was about 8 or 9 months out.....I sent Dr.C a pic of me at a buffet in Tokyo........

It said "Sometimes you have to pay $35 for 3oz. of food"

Yes, but in Japan, it can be SO worth it.  I still drool over a few ounces of beef that I ate sitting at the counter of a restaurant in Kyoto.  The Japanese clientele were escorted upstairs while I was seated at the counter.  Then again, it was the Pontocho so perhaps they were indeed "escorted".  Regardless, I ate there several times on that trip, and ran right back on the next trip there.

The chef at the counter was the most stunning caricature type person.  I think those three ounces of beef did in fact run around $35.

Patty, I got a restaurant card from kaiser and used it once.  I was on a business trip to Sacramento. I went to a support group meeting up there with an OH member.  Afterwards we went to a buffet place. I was only a few months out so pulled out that card for my $5 dinner.  I probably ate five bites of food.

I'm generally willing to pay full price but that place wasn't going to have quality food.

Oh man!  Harajuku was a fav place of mine.  Only problem, it was pre op so all I was buying was purses or stuff for my son Zach.  Lucky guy that he is.   I learned to speak Japanese for that trip.  I wish I had kept it up and not  forgotten it all.

Frisco, we could eat good  together in Japan.  Small plates of fabulous food.  Eat little, walk away with big grin, shop!

Now all I need is a j.o.b.  *sigh*. Cherry blossom season is calling.

That 's a fantastic pic of you.  Do you ever wear anything that's not black?
